?? Because hangover is a symptom you have when you no longer have the substance in your body.

The healthier you are the stronger you'll hangover will be because your body more aggressively fights the toxins of alcohol poisoning so you get nauseous and puke. As your body becomes more accustomed to alcohol you build a tolerance and your body becomes more accepting of the toxins. If you drink a lot over time the absorbed toxins start damaging your organs. If you get to the point where instead of vomiting you start getting diarrhea instead, that's a bad sign because that means the poisons are being absorbed deep into the tissue of your intestines. That's when you start getting a new kind of hangover: kidney damage, liver failure, ulcers, and even brain damage.

That makes no sense at all.
The reason you get less hangovers as you drink more often is because you build up a tolerance. The presence of alcohol in your body causes increased expression of the enzymes which metabolise alcohol, for example alcohol dehydrogenase. So as you drink alcohol more regularly you will have higher levels of these alcohol degrading enzymes so you will recover faster from intoxication and degrade the hangover causing toxins faster than a normal person.

Yeah that's bullshit. I'm in great shape and perfectly healthy and my hangovers aren't bad at all.

i think hangovers get worse as tolerance builds up, i go 2 weeks without a drink and feel almost no hangover the next day after drinking, binge for a week and feel shittier and shittier every passing day

Maybe because you drink more when you 'binge for a week'

Thank you for bringing some sense to this thread. Alcohol metabolism is actually quite well understood.
Oh and as a high-functioning alcoholic (lolz) I also feel that the quality of booze can affect hangover greatly. For example well drinks poured with cheap alcohol seem much worse than top shelf booze. I would attribute that to increased impurities found in cheaper alcohol: methanol and various aldehydes etc.

I think what you drink is an important factor as to if you will get a hangover or not....I don't really ever get one with clear liquor like vodka but almost always will with a cheap whiskey. I don't get hangovers with wine or light beer but will sometimes with craft beers like IPAS such as sierra nevada torpedo which gave me a shit hangover yesterday that fucker.

i never have hangovers unless i dont have any water in me. Water always keeps me from getting a hangover and if i do ever have a hangover i just drink alot in the morning and it usually fades away
