Panaeolus semiovatus var. semiovatus maybe?
Do a spore print...

Why? It's a Panaeolus and they all have black spores so it won't separate species.

It's clearly P. semiovatus, anyway.

Was thinking the OP was hoping it was an active mushroom... Its not of course, but Thought it would good to encourage them to do spore print. Pans are an easy mushroom to spore print... Sooner they learn the basics, the better.... Anyway.... Found some similar last weekend in eastern wash while morel hunting... Cow dung though...

I suppose it wouldn't hurt as an exercise. Assuming the OP doesn't already know how to.

Sooner they learn the basics, the better.... As I always say...Give a man a fish, he eats for a day, teach him to fish, and he will drink all your beer... Or something like that

Anyway.... Found some similar last weekend in eastern wash while morel hunting... Cow dung though...
