Printing mushrooms

So my first grow is under way, and I've been reading up on ways to make the most out of the prints that I will be taking.
Simple LC
Taking prints and then creating a LC seems like a good way to continue on my crop without having to buy more spore syringes.
My question is though when taking prints, does it matter which mushroom I take the print from? For example will taking a print of the biggest mushroom I grow benefit me more than printing a normal size mushroom?

Size usually doesn't matter and is more just where the mycellium has a hold of more food going to one mushroom. If you are a noob then don't start with LC's, they require more advanced sterile technique to guarantee results. Rather, make spore syringes with the print.
A fresh petri dish, or piece of clean fresh aluminum foil make good surface to print on. Dont put mushroom directly on foil/dish but prop it up with a couple straws, etc so that spores fall on foil but mush doesnt touch clean area. Then after a day or two fold up foil or tape up dish and place in sealed baggy into fridge until use. Search making spore syringes.

I would make a spore syringe. Then make a LC. You can use 2 cc's from the spore syringe to inoculate the LC.
Also, a 4% honey to water solution works best. If you have a scale it makes it easy... 250 ml of water weighs about 250 grams. So 4% of that is 10 grams. So add 10 grams of honey to 250 ml water.
But you can also use the tek you mentioned. I used it when I first started out and had great results (some of the time).

If you think im such a tard, then go ahead and make a print with a fresh cap directly on foil. You will get condensation from the fruit on the foil if it isn't semi dry and the gills only add some contacted bacteria to the surface. If you want the cleanest print possible do it like I say.

I've been doing prints directly on foil for years, and have never had any probs...

I'm sure you havent, but for someone doing their first grow you want their setup as clean as possible because they may introduce extra contam spores by accident. There is no cleaner way to make a print than to suspend a cap right above the surface.

So mushroom ----> print ----> syringe ----> LC ---> clone ----> Success?

Well... provided your LC is good, you would then want to test the LC out on a cpl of small jars of brf/grains... Another way to avoid sketchy LC's is called a GLC... you take your spore syringe, inoculate a small jar of grains, then once fully colonized, you inject sterile water into said jar, then shake the hell out of it, breaking the myc up, and into the water... you can then use this liquid innoculant to make many jars... and no test jars are needed... check it out...
good luck!

I used to do GLC and I agree it works great and saves lots of time.

I would at least used boiled water, and pressure cooked water is better. Even better is PC the syringes full of water with needles attached. Just because your tap water has chlorine in it doesn't mean the spores and endospores are dead, just any living organisms. I wouldn't recommend it.
