My Lophs all got sunburn really bad for a long time, and never really adjusted to full sun after my shade canopy rotted out. I had to built a new one and now they're finally recovering. I've heard of ppl putting them in full sun w success, but I guess the cali sun is just a little too intense here.

It is actually depends a lot where are you living. In my location far away north sun is not so intense than southern locations. UV-radiation is too more weaker than many other places. I don't have never problem to keep lophophora at south facing window. It is simple fact that more closer you are equator, more closer the sun is.

Astrophytum asterias cv AKABANA x cv Miracle

I've said it before and I will say it again. I love asterias. <3

Astros are awesome and I'm still trying to figure out what my fav cultivars are. Apparently akabana means red flower so that's cool. There are so many various japanese terms with these cultivars I have to look new ones up that I am not familiar with. They sure know how to breed cacti though.

Oh boy, just got another cactus in the mail today (and I'm not accidentally posting it in the graft thread!) Astrophytum myriostigma Koh-jo prolifera. I figure I could use it for grafting practice with all the Hylocereus undatus I have.

It's a wild looking variant for sure. I usually have plans to chop up and multiply whatever I acquire but I may keep this as one whole graft and hope it branches out later on.

You could always chop off an areole or two at the bottom of it and graft those. I wouldn't be able to resist multiplying that thing, particularly considering the price range they seem to be going for.
$100-200! Good lord that's a lotta

From what I understand, grafting an areole from a crested specimen will only result in normal growth. I've never personally attempted an areole graft taken from a crest but I've read about the normal growth enough times on the internet, so it must be true.

i recently attempted to salvage this o. fragilis pup, after i had realized it stopped growing on its parent, because i had accidentally knocked it at one point.
it was pretty difficult, being a tall scion, but i used saran wrap & clothes hanger (also stretch out the springs on these so they dont crush the peres) just removed it tonight after about 5 days. it's seated well and remains in place when the stock is shook. i hope it takes alright as i was almost going to graft just the smaller apex of the scion to make it more likely to take...

Nicely done, looks solid to me. Tall thin columnar growth being grafted onto peres can be a pain in the ass so nice work.

I traded a nursery owner this breast plant for something from my own collection. I already owned one but this particular specimen was flawless except for one small patch of yellowish discoloration located around one of the spines. This thing shows visible daily growth and is just over 9 inches tall but it will easily reach over a foot by the end of the growing season.

Never seen a breast plant before. Pretty awesome if you ask me. xD
