So it's day 11 and upon checking a mono, there are a few small very struggled pins. Is this bad? will it have any negative effects on the rest of the fruitbodys? did i wait too long? thanks.

I let my monos till I see a few decent sized pins.
pics would help.
Have you been opening the lid to check on it? What's your colonization set up?

no pics for now as i only have my phone and the detail would be too shitty to see anyways.
They don't look like normal pins, they are very small less than a cm in length. they look like they curled up due to lack of fae.
Colonization setup is all holes stuffed with poly, covered with a few blankets to keep in co2. i never took the top off until today when i introduced fruiting conditions.

well does it look 100%?
I'm sure it'll be fine. I recommend taping the holes in the mono & just using the lid as the GE. But I know others use the poly. As for the blankets, light is good for mycelium @ all stages...

That's a good idea about leaving the lid for GE. I experimented with completely sealing up 2 tubs vs. taping and leaving the lids alone on 2 others.
Guess which tubs got trich during and before first flush? Guess which ones are growing like champions?

Those ones, I did the same thing, put a tub in a tightly wrapped trash bag...yum yum, bacteria...

Lessons learned though. Now I understand why, even with the large volume of air trapped in a mono, you still need a certain amount of GE. The lids breathe enough since they don't seal. Not sure I will go all the way in the future and put tight polyfill in the holes from day one but I sure as hell won't seal another mono.
