How do you know this economomy isn't still being effected by 9-11?
The military got it's weapons and shit from previous years, not this one. We won't see the result of this war (economikly) until next year.

Shrew, you are absolutley right. At least someone else is not spouting off ideas that would cripple what is left of our economy.
Before you go laying blame I suggest you learn something about economics and finance. I am a finance major and it is very commonly known that the economy lags extremely far behind any decisions made by the government. I really do not see how giving tax cuts could ever hurt the economy. It provides consumers with more money to invest, spend, or save. Any of these choices is a better alternative than our government using the money to pay its employees or fund its relatively useless programs. Less taxes means more income and therefore more disposable income. When will our government ever realize that the more money that it steals from the citizen's the worse and worse off things become. Certain policies are needed like defense taxes and roads and highways welfare is one of the most unneeded policies ever implemented. How are humans to evolve when the successful pay for the unsuccessful. I can just see the gene pool collapsing with stupidity as those on welfare have more and more kids just so they can save some more on taxes. Welfare will eventually destroy mankind as we devolve into the Cletus' and other slackjaws that do not produce any worthy product towards society. And who is to blame but FDR. His new deal policies have stunted the economy ever since. Luckily he raised America out of the depression, which is still one of the unsolved mysteries of economics.

Somebody's thinking. I agree with what Murex said.
-------------------- To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.' Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence. Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains. Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.

How can you blame Clinton for our economy? When the first Bush was in office, our economy sucked. When Clinton came in, we had one of the most prosperous economies ever. His economic adviser is one of the best ever and we had no problems with unemployment. We actually had a surplus (a damn big one I might add) of money and things were going great. Then Bush jr. steps in, starts giving more tax breaks to the rich and to SUV owners (wtf is up with that) and wastes over 6.4 trillion dollars. What do we have to show for it? A dead Saddam Hussein (maybe) Osama is still alive, our unemployment rate is extremely high, and there is no relief in sight. The Dow Jones has dropped 25% (it has slowly come back up, but we are still down approx 20%) and more people are losing their jobs everyday. When Clinton was in office, we had the highest dow ever, and we were not worried about going to war over "Saddam tried to kill my daddy" and life was good. I do believe that tax cuts are good to stimulate the economy as it lets consumers have more spending money to use. However, its kind of hard to be frugally spending your money when you have just lost your job, and your investment money. People are afraid to go out and spend money because they don't know if they will have their job tomorrow, and I personally know several people who are a little afraid of malls due to our terror alert being

Prezidents don't really control the economy. The economy is a mindset of society.

To your whole reply I will refer you to my second line "it is very commonly known that the economy lags extremely far behind any decisions made by the government" like as in three to five years. Unemployement lags even further behind because it takes businesses a moderate time period of positive gains before they will change their decision to hire. Unemployement can lag up to five years behind government decisions. The economic boom of the mid-nineties was very much due to Bush, Sr's policies. As the Clinton Regime pushed into office things began to change and by the end of the nineties until now the economy has been fueled by debt. In 1999, America reached a higher percentage of debt than ever before. Finally the stock market could no longer hold the amount of debt. In this case Sept. 11 is the breaking point, but the market was already in minor decline when this happened. I will tell you that by the end of Bush, Jr's term that the economy and market will be better than before as all of the products (except houses, long car loans, and those well into credit card debt) purchased on debt will largely be paid for and with those out of the way people will begin to invest in large amounts again.
Murex, thank you for the gracious remarks regarding my last post.
