Colonization time difference=tall vs short 1/2 pint jars?

I'm using tall 1/2 pint jars. I'm just curious as to how much of a time difference it makes using the SHORT 1/2 pint jars versus the ones I'm using now. Please refer to my first grow log to get a feel for how my jars are colonizing, 1st grow log
It appears to me that if I would have used the shorter 1/2 pint jars, perhaps they would all be pretty much almost done colonizing by now.
I know b+ takes a little longer to colonize. Thank you.
On a side note, would you guys say the mycelium growth is slow, normal, or fast? Would really appreciate the input.

The fatter ones give more surface area of substrate for the myc to colonize at a time than skinnier ones

Ok, so what exactly does that mean? When you say "fatter" are you referring to the short or tall jars?
Does this basically mean that I will get more fruits (shrooms) using the tall jars versus the short ones? Thanks.

I mean the shorter, and the myc will grow out in every direction and you give them something really slim to colonize it'll take longer for the growth to hit both ends of the jars

Ok. But will the taller ones produce more fruit since there's more mycelium? That question it totally unrelated to the original question I'm asking on time difference, but please give me your knowledge.
Also, if anyone knows of a time difference between the 2 sizes of jars. Is it a remarkably big difference like a week or two or just a small difference like a few days or so? Thanks.

They both have the same amount of mycelium, 1/2 pint

colonization times vary a lot with spores in general, using the wrong jars just slows it down more.
the tall half pint jars i did never ended up colonizing.

What strain were you using? Are you sure the needle got passed the top vermiculite layer?

I only have access to regular mouth (tall) jars in my area and they work great

I disagree. I think that is a myth. And it hasnt been my experience.

Yep.
Ive done both the short half pints, and the full pints. The full pints do work, and they will colonize. But, it does take a long time. Im not sure why, but I suspect a GE issue with the pints due to the depth of the jars. Its not uncommon for my half pints to be fully colonized in 4-6 weeks with a MS inoculation. 3-4 weeks with an LC. If I do the full pint jars though, it doesnt seem to matter if its MS or LC. It still can take up to 3 months to colonize. Seems like growth consistently starts just like any other half pint, but then stalls. Sometimes flipping the jars, and increasing the light exposure helps, but it still takes a long damn time.
Sometimes what Ill do is, use this timing to my advantage though. inoculate both half pints, and full pints on the same day. When my half pints run out of steam after fruiting, the full pints are just about ready. The timing works out real nice.

Cool. So it appears to me, from your answers, that it really all depends on my methods and everything varies from grow to grow. Thanks for the input.

i was using psilocybe cubensis spores and all but the bottom of the jars colonized because the substrate was to compacted and ge was restricted due to the tallness of the jars.
