Is this a Nymphaea species???

Hi everyone, I found a place where they sell this plants:

My question is, if it is a member of the lotus family??? whould it have some psychoactive properties??


I plan on buying some

That looks like a Blue Water Lily or Nymphaea caerulea. Sometimes referred to as "Blue Lotus". I only conisder Nelumbo nucifera a lotus and it is pink.


Yes it should be psychoactive. They actually sold these and a few other species of Nymphaea at the local Lowe's. I never did a bioassay on the ones from Lowe's though. The psychoactivity may have been bred out if they are hybrids but the ones I saw didnt say "hybrid" on the label.

That is Blue Lilly. Commonly known as blue lotus.

It is the one depicted everywhere in ancient egypt.

The plant you were looking for?
