the path of least resistance
    #14524253 - 05/27/11 11:45 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Anyone else wonder why the path of least resistance seems to prevail in nature? A river winds it's way towards the ocean by finding the path of least resistance. Lightening strikes that which is nearest, even if only by a few feet (see: lightening rods on houses).

Can anyone think of some ways this might play out in human life?

i think the path of least resistance for humans is what comes naturally to them which over time becomes what they are good at doing.

it can be seen in every single aspect of human life, it is what determines every single "action" in nature including humans. it is the basis of evolution.

Yes in each material manifestation there is a limited amount of life energy.  How it is used is critical to the functioning and longevity of the life form due to the rigors of the environment.

Any Martial Artist worth his salt knows this. :brucelee:

So how do you explain someone who broods over a simple event, such as being cut off in traffic, long after the event has occurred?

It's one thing to simply enjoy a style of life that one enjoys, but it's another thing altogether to refer to another person's choice as "wrong" or to rationalize their behavior as being pathological or resulting from some sort of inadequacy or failing so as to create a sense of superiority or separation as yet another projection of a personal fear or control issue.

are you referring to the creation of wellfare or the use of wellfare? Because I can see both resulting from a path of least resistance.

Both, now that I think about it..originally, I was referring only to the use of welfare.
