You definitely gave me something to think about...I never really had any problem with contams but it was something I was mulling over while making prints today. If only we could create a bacteria immune strain...a guy can dream.

not exactly how it works.
what do you mean by bacteria immune?
trichoderma will actually feed off of the mycelium.
bacteria is just as concerned with the grains as the mycelium.
what you are describing is a mycelium that colonizes so fast that bacteria couldn't possible win.
but let me tell you the truth, the fastest colonizing strains are not the largest producers.

I wasn't talking about the mean green, nothing can beat that Lol. I just was referring to how people usually take prints off the BIGGEST caps to increase their chances of getting a bigger load *giggity*. I was just fantasizing about a strain that was bred to be SUPER resistant to contams *exluding the trich due to what you said*. For example, cultures that were contam'd with a bacterial infection, but still were able to hold off long enough to put out some caps. Or cultures that produce above average metabolites. Get some prints off those (Or an LC), and just keep doing that process until you get your resistant strain. *shrug* perhaps it's scientifically impossible but like I said, a guy can dream .
Also thanks for the tip! That sounds like my costa ricas, SUPER FAST under 3 weeks, 100% colonized but the amount of fruits were meh...

They don't evolve that fast. Evolution takes time.
If anything, I suspect well domesticated, popular cubes, which have been grown indoors for many generations are better for indoor grows. They are popular for a reason ya know?

Do you guys feel like there's a corellation between slow growth/potency & cold temps/density? DNA adjustments/coding also very interesting. Id imagine, the faster the organism's lifespan, the faster the evolution.

so hesre's a pic of the ban hua thannon. those of you who may have been lost in another conversation, let me give you the run down. these fuckers have been growing tiny from the get go! they look normal in the pic, but trust me they're way smaller than anything i've worked with in the past. i believe it's genetic, but i would like to hear from someone who's had experience with this strain, we'll call it a sub strain because we all know a cube is a cube. or just someone experienced in general please feel free to state your thoughts and opinions.

this is the same GH just above the ban hua thannons. strain.... or sub strain lol is DT.

Hi guys, hope this is the right place to ask this question :S A friend of mine get me this grow kit.
Mexican and stropharia cubensis ?? What I find is stropharia cubensis is the old name for psilocybe cubensis. And, when I check the images for Psilocybe mexicana, the fruit is pretty much different than what I got. This is the only image I got, right now. I harvest them a little late so, caps are covered with spores.

the tallest fruit is approx. 15 cm long spor color is dark purple
So, do have any idea about what is this? More importantly, is this p. mexicana or p.cubensis Even though, I dont have any information about growing sclerotia. I am thinking about it, if it is possible with this one.

Hey y'all, is it possible to get a big fruiting pink oyster mushroom from spore? Or is that as likely as getting a shiitake 75 strain from spore?
Did some lab tech just get lucky? My pink oysters don't fruit like the other oysters and I think it's beginning to feel isolated...
I mean... I need the penis envy of pink oysters, I'm making a go of it commercially...

This thread isn't really for that - but those cultures are propagated with cultures not spores, SFAIK.

a lot of commercial growers find their own genetics.
a lot of them use the species they find growing around them.
you should start with genetics from vendors, and then trade around with older members.
the old heads have the best edible genetics.
