I've definitley have different results with different cube "races". I'm a second time grower and have gone through B+, Brazils, and Illusion Weavers all on my last project. Even if there isn't a big difference biologically, I figured I'd share my experience regardless. B+ yielded the highest number of jars colonized. That being said they had a steady rate of colonization and fruiting tended to take a while. Brazils had the lowest number of jars colonized with just 3/5, though they grew like weeds and fruited immediatley and with very large yields. Illusion Weavers have been tricky. They are so-so for colonization, but fast growing and I've had a mix of some with high yields and others with lower. They certainly seem to grow a little more strangely though, usually angled and far reaching.

Strain differences are more subtle than that. None of these observations are significant.

I'm thinking about starting an Edible grow here in FL. its been about 90 and up with 95-100% humidity almost everday. I was wondering what strains would hold up in the hot weather, or if I should hold out till winter.
I ran across a couple threads about Florida White oysters but cant find a whole lot about them. what are some strains that will grow good in the Heat? so far i think my options are Paddy straws, Pink oysters, and whites. would really appreciate any help to get me goin, Thanks.

Just FYI this thread has to do with psilocybe cubensis not oysters there is an edible and gourmet section that this question is more suited for and more ppl with experience growing oysters will look at it too

Psilocybe cubensis Huautla
Cultivation Difficulty: Easy Potency: Moderate to Potent Substrate: Dung, Straw, Various grains Colonization/Fruiting Temperatures: 84-86F/74-78F
The Huautla strain of Psilocybe cubensis is a recent collection from the wilds of southern Mexico in the region of Oaxaca near the village of Huautla de Jimenez. Huautla de Jimenez has gained notoriety as the hometown of mushroom Shaman Maria Sabina. In 1954 Gordon Wasson and Allan Richardson became the first Caucasians to participate in a mushroom ceremony, conducted under the guidance of Maria Sabina near the village of Huautla de Jimenez. Wasson and Richardson each consumed specimens of Psilocybe caerulescens var. mazatecorum. The Huautla variety of P. cubensis was recently collected from this historically rich region by our good friend Club99.. The Huautla strain exhibits some very interesting characteristics. Most noted are long, skinny stalks and obtusely conic to hemispheric caps. Stem length can range from 6-10 inches, while cap diameter tends to stay under two inches for laboratory-produced specimens. Almost all specimens retain the membranous annulus upon full maturity. This strain fruits abundantly and readily from a number of substrate materials.

sorry im new here had to figure out how this works. lol. i have a question im kind of new im entering my second grow, on pf cakes.
i have decided to try the palenque strain through a vendor i was refered to. does anyone have any experience with this that can tell me what i may be in for as far as pinning and needs for it? i have birthed and dunked, and am extremely careful with them like they are my babies. it has been about 10 days and no pins, though they were thoroughly colonized.
my last strain was pink buffalo which worked well on all levels, but this strain seems different, thicker mycelium, and lagging behind in fruiting time, is that normal? sorry to be long winded and feel free to direct me to where i should ask this stuff.the mycellium seems to "eat" any vermiculite i put on it.
