Dude, I just made myself look stupid....no way that could have been an attack on you!
I was admittedly not specifying the strain of the fruit pictured above because this is not usually possible (KSSS, PE(s), and a few other cubes can be spotted, but not generally).
I do not uselessly fuck with people here.
Good luck!

I need some help. i'll try to make this as breif as possible. i ordered 2 syringes a few weeks ago. one dakak beach and one pan cam(mamoth). i made six jars...3 dakak and 3 pan cam. the jars were made up of composted cow poo, straw, corn, and verm. they colonized very well and relativly fast. all six cakes have the same species of mushies growing on them. they are the smallest mushrooms i've ever seen. the caps go from pin to fully open in about 24 to 36 hours. they are so small i have to pick them off the cakes with tweezers...and there are tons of them flushing out every day. until yesterday they were all white. then there was a small grey colony that poped out last night. the mushroom cap was a little bigger and didn't fold up all the way up so quickly like the others. i noticed this particular colony was directly attached to a peice of straw. can the same species of mushrooms have a different appearence depending on what its growing on? i assumed at first these were all pan cams, and the guy who was filling up my dakak syringe must not have gotten enough sleep. but these mushies don't quite look like the pictures of pan cams i've seen online either. sorry i don't have any pics posted. i'll try to post some tomorow.

Can anyone tell me the Latin scientific classification name of the Koh Samui strain from Thailand? I am currently cultivating and got aggressive mycelial growth only 3 DAYS after inoculation. I just want more info on the strain or if anyone knows a source where I can find the Latin name for the strain.
Also, how uncommon/amazingly lucky is it to have mycelial growth after only 3 days? I have always read 5-8 days is the norm.
Thank you...

I would like to see the pics. But it's possible to have different phenotypes present in a flush... especially when dealing w/ MS.

I have gotten too-early opening caps when my subs got way too wet.
There are many other reason. Genetics is a good one.

there are many types of psilocybe mushrooms, the Thai strain has to have its own name....

the species psilocybe cubensis.
start using proper terms.
there are many SPECIES of psilocybin containing mushrooms.
and sometimes there are different VARIETIES, or STRAINS within the SPECIES.

Nor will you find it, as there isn't one. But if somebody were to classify it like that, it would read something like Family Psilocybe Species Cubensis Variety Koh Samui. Ps. Cubensis var Koh Samui. It's a John Allen strain according to vendor sources and no reason to doubt that.

Depends on the freshness of the spores I suspect. Germination time varies all over the place, doesn't seem IME to be related to growth vigor or colonization vigor very strongly. Just be sure it's actually myc and not contam - the only thing that starts faster than mycelium is a few nasty contams.

I saw something similar once. Was due to bacterial contamination.
Though those don't really look like cubes to me.

I have to agree.
I grew some tiny Panaeolus on a very dry BRF cake once that looked a bit like that.
Those are very ugly cakes, from some reason that I cannot make out in the photos.
I hope that someone else can be more definitive.
Good luck,
JD

well thats because the cakes are made of straw poo and corn. i just dunked and rolled last week. they're still covered in fresh vermiculite. the mushies popped out in only a few days after i put them in there. i have to pick a couple dozen ripe ones every day with the tweezers. its crazy. and of course when they dry up...they shrivel up to half their already tiny size. there's no mold or contamination on them. that bin is squeeky clean. i'll eat all the dry ones and the fresh ones this weekend and see what happens. if they really are pan cams they should take me for a serious ride. i know pan cams are small but this is ridiculous.

Have anyone noticed that Malabar has VERY slow colonization speed? I have some WBS quart jars shoot up with a syringe on May 12th and today they show first signs of colonization (contrary to Brazil Cubes which colonized 100% in 2 weeks).
Is this normal for Malabar or do I have poor genetics?

Which strain would you guys recommend for a beginner? I am planning on starting up my first grow and i was not sure which strain to choose. I've heard that B+ and Golden teacher are two strains that are good for beginners.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
