If it weren't for their kit? What do you mean? Did they rip you or someone off with a growkit or something?
I know Mushbox / Spores101 / Mycodome are all bullshit. Unfortunately from experience

It's... its own mushroom, so, kinda like comparing the potency of a nug of weed to a hit of acid.
Most people don't seem to like them much, with a rare select few really really liking them.

True,
Also, from what I understand it's a much different trip from psilocybin. More of a disassociative, like K or something. It's also infamous for stomach upset, which is the reason a lot of the people of the sect using muscaria in Siberia would drink the urine of the shaman who ingested them.
I could be wrong, but this is what I've understood.

Apparently they're really delicious if you boil out the dissociatives. Definitely pick'm if you find'm.
--------------------
I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister. I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave. I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent. Triggered yet? Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."

I wonder if theres really a difference between "KS" and "KSSS". in any case, i dont think ive seen anything labelled just "KS" anytime recently, and i wonder if theyd all just get sold as KSSS anyway (due to popularity). Like how there was an APE v2. The origins of these strains and substrains are a mystery to me, and i wonder what happened to APE2
Just didnt do too well, probably, or was inferior to original APE.
As far as PE germination, thats actually something that im dealing with and it was (still is) confusing the shit out of me. As a *rule* pretty much every single time grain jars are successfully (or even unsuccessfully, as in contams could show up later) i see myc day 4-5 every time. Might be just a small bit of growth but even with MS thats just a pattern i kept seeing.
Showing up very slowly (initial growth) on rye.
HOWEVER,
I decided to make an LC and from the same syringe, shot 2cc's into it. The liquid culture grew very quickly. By day 4, as usual, signs of growth. Used at day 9 to knock up some jars and even those, they seem to be working but taking 2 days take hold. I wonder why PE germinates so quick in liquid but seems to be so damn slow in grain jars. Always read it was a fast colonizer, didnt think it would take extra time to germinate
(Also pretty quick growth on agar)

I boiled some in some chicken broth once years ago. I didn't get anything from them, but they sure were tasty.

Hey, I'd say you got something out of that amanita if it was tasty.
-------------------------------------------
KS apparently has some mutant variety to it, such as KS T3 and KSSS vagina spaceship. I assume they were isolated and isolated and printed to amplify the frequency of certain traits.
While you can do this with any cube, if it looks the same but is like 5% better than the cube you started with, people aren't inclined to give any validity to a new name. Twisted Coast from Gulf Coast and Wikidzon from PESA are other examples of this. The more wild the sporeprint you start with, the more genetic diversity there will be, and the higher the impact of isolating and/or breeding will be.
Honestly, you can start to get suprisingly different results even after sporeprinting a mutant or different phenotype fruit. I printed one conical capped fruit with a black sporeprint from a RedBoy grow (which are mostly bulbous caps) and the next generation showed 40-50% conical caps up from around 5-15% and a higher percentage of black spore prints.

KS was picked by John Allen aka mjshroomer. He talks of picking some in 1999, not sure if it was them
from a thread around june 2000 the link is dead

KSSS from seemingly picked by Clyde 17 July 2003

Another great psilocybe mushroom brought to us from the regions of Thailand. This one is the absolute best cubensis -Clyde- has ever worked with. He dubbed this one a "Super Strain". Why? It far exceeds all other cubensis in yields he has worked with by 40%-50%! Its also the most contam resistant cubie he has seen yet, and is the fastest fruiting. You guys and gals can read more about it on The Hawks Eye at the Thailand Koh Samui Super Strain page.
This is www.thehawkseye.com last and final release of strains from -Clyde- before we close later this year. Needless to say its -Clyde's-favorite cubie. Mine is still, and probably always will be the Penis Envy
Also we are giving away one free spore syringe of this strain with every order that you purchase 3 spore syringes or more for the next 2 weeks. So all orders post dated from July 17th to July 31 will recieve one of Thai KSS free. All other freebies still applies as on our web site, such as buy 3 get 1 free, buy 4 get 2 free, buy 5 get 3 free, buy 10 get 7 free.
And as always, Shroomery and Mycotopia members can have free shipping with your order if you mention your a member.
I'm looking forward to seeing all those great pics from you happy growers who live in countries where its legal to grow this one. -Clyde- sais you can all thank him later for this amazing strain <wink>. Enjoy!

Who was Clyde?
It never said Clyde picked KSSS. What it sounds like is Clyde took KS and worked it into KSSS.

Reading it again I agree I do not think he picked it, but I don't think he developed it from the original KS, but rather some other print from the same region. I remember several thai types
Quote:
Well of course over the last couple of years -Clyde- continued going through many of these prints and developing them for several generations searching for better strains, a super strain. And finally it happened, he hit the mother load with the Koh Samui Super Strain.

I know tons of the thai strains are from the same region if not the same island. It's more than possible KS and KSSS are totally unrelated.

I believe it's stated in the cervantes journal that both KSSS was isolated from "KS", and KS T3 was isolated from BHT. Other strains from KS Island are John Allen and BHT, if not more.
Question: Is it just me or do there seem to be a lot of sporelines from the gulf region/NA that like to put out Albinos?
Golden Teacher - just posed here Treasure Coast RedBoy (not sure where it's from, but PR at least is from there) PF Albino from PF Classic from Matias Romero from Mexico Texas - Supposedly throws out occassional albinos Oak Ridge - Reported Also some other light colored stuff like "Mexican Albino"
I wonder if this suggests that it might be a good evolutionary adaptation for this region, or perhaps that all of them came from a similar spore lineage? Maybe I'm just ignoring albionos from elsewhere.
