You can harvest stones first then spawn the leftover grains, or just spawn at 100% colonization.

I'm not sure about Chicon-nindo's stone production. I know Galindoi and Tampenesis both develop stones well. Galindoi has produced them faster for me.

Once your done harvesting and have completed as many flushes as you desire, you can break apart the substrate and search for stones.

When I talked to Saralove, she mentioned Chicon-nindo is more finicky of a fruiter. Give them plenty of FAE.

chicon nindo produced nice big stones here, although it was significantly slower then Galindoi

I don't think its cob web, there is no smell and I have plenty of FEA. They have 2 holes in the lid with micropore tape over them and are still sitting in front of my hepa. I should turn that off and move them out of my clean room. I just wanted to be able to take pics with the lid off if need be, but the picture quality was no better. I'm going to pick up a real camera but in the mean time, this is what I got today... same 2 jars as yesterday, I don't want to man handle all of them.

the second pic is a lot better, i'm not sure how much fae is important in the dishes. quite often people wrap their dishes in parafin or something like that. I believe it seals it air tight, I wrap mine in syran wrap.
the second pic looks alright to my untrained eye.

are you going right from spores to agar? I would really appreciate if you could post some pics. everything I find is of tissue transfers or a transfer from one plate another.

I'm just not seeing the growth or rhizomorphic qualities I want from any of my samples. Everything is cottony.

The cottony growth is called tomentose.

Tomentose and rhizomorphic are in no way indicative of fruiting potential. Some of my best flushes have been from tomentose growth. Rhizomorphic is due to the mycelium stretching for nutrients causing faster and more expansive growth. Tomentose means your mycelium is a happy camper.

Both are just fine to see regardless.

Sometimes I'll have rhizo on agar and then when they're transfered to the more nutritious grain jars it goes tomentose almost instantly. Still fruits a canopy

Pasty says his new strain will hardly ever rhizo at all and it's the bees knees.  I tend to believe him on that.

That is awesome! I have two plates that grew extremely fast and overtook all the agar in a few days, incdently they are also very tomentose... its way harder to decern different strains when its so tomentose. With a rhizomorphic strain you can easily see the various "branches." Is there a good way for me to sector this out?? Am I looking for thicker areas, or what?

If you're isolating you typically wanna go by speed, so, the areas furthest from the inoculation point.  You can't see potency in mycelium so colonization speed is pretty much what you get to visually narrow down with.  Potency comes from testing.

These are the only two pics I have of spore to agar left.

i'm pretty sure those all those little bumps in the middle of the glass one is where my loop inoculate the agar. I wasnt sure if i was touching the agar or something.
both pics are spores to agar.

just thought id show a couple pics of my way towards a mono di and as well as the progress of my attempt at crossing panama and Oakridge.
I'm not sure if this a place to keep posting pics so I made a journal where you can just throw up anything to do with agar

hope you like the pics.

I'm kinda liking how these two cultures are interacting. In a previous pic posted (inserted below) you can almost see the hypha or filament crossing and connecting with the other, as if there was no break.

but as it grew I saw a definite break between the two, but I think some of the filaments clamped and are starting to form a new culture. I'll have to wait and see what happens next.

wish I had some better pics, but couldnt get it to focus properly.
Does it look like they are going to grow out a new strain? I think its just sit and wait, and then I have to take that culture and see if it creates a wall of isolation( i think thats the term) with either of the two originals.
