Ahh.. Maybe if he took a pic from a different angle looking at it would be more visible.. Or dude, next time put a couple drops of food colouring in your agar mix, something dark.

Yea, its a 4oz jar. Thought it was more economic and environmentally friendly than buying a case of disposable petri dishes. I think I'm going to buy a nice camera after work today.

I think the curvature of the jar was throwing my droids camera off. It could also be user error. Previously I've only used my camera for stupid selfies and dick pics. I will read up on photography then go home and try again tonight with my phone. If I cant get a few good pics I will buy a camera.

What you can do is transfer a part that you think looks the best and see how that grows out. YOu got like 20 plates, there must be some good growth somewhere.

Yeah i have. I see conflicting things like "mexicana sclerotia makes me nauseous" vs "its the smoothest thing ever". The thing is, im wondering mostly about whether its more of a stone producer or better as fruit. Seems like mex fruit would be super great, but its a really hot summer and i know mexicana does well around 70-75ish, and its a super hot summer here. And i also keep hearing that some varieties are good for stones, some are not. That is why i ask about the variety itself. (I also read all this stuff about how Chicon Nindo is a new/unique mexicana strain...it seems like first posts about it are not that long ago). Anyway im gonna try to fruit it with rye. But i was wondering this: if one wants both stones and fruit, do the stones come out first before fruiting or at the end after gathering the flushes? the latter seems to make more sense....rather than tearing up the jars and fruiting the myc thats left...
Ive been reading alot about mexicana, i just am confused about that part, due to some conflicting teks i have seen.
PS: even if temps arent right for fruit to develop, stones still should, is that correct?

i never had a stone trip that wasn't smooth, up to 60g fresh. i never saw someone get psyched out on stones either, but have seen it many times with cubes. everyones different though.

my understanding is you get stones by letting a jar colonize for months, and the longer you let the jar sit the better. mycelium does better at the higher end of the temp then fruits do. so you'd probably be better off making stones in hotter temps then trying to fruit.

You can harvest stones first then spawn the leftover grains, or just spawn at 100% colonization.
I'm not sure about Chicon-nindo's stone production. I know Galindoi and Tampenesis both develop stones well. Galindoi has produced them faster for me.
Once your done harvesting and have completed as many flushes as you desire, you can break apart the substrate and search for stones.
When I talked to Saralove, she mentioned Chicon-nindo is more finicky of a fruiter. Give them plenty of FAE.
