This is all really cool, it will open up more to me with experience. Is that ape in your pic? Looks pretty gnarly what ever it is.

Those are all quite nice.
I got a bunch of tiny bastards all the time when I was doing rounds of them. Will give them another shot soon here, maybe I can get better results.
They never got big enough to shake the verm off.. I think that was the only one I cased. That pinset could never have sustained itself though..
My big tubs just did shit like this:

Could be a result of the very limited amount of genetic material that the culture came from. Was a clone from an agar pin cluster.

Its mostly genetic man, I have had my share of tiny ones too.

But now I gotta nice fat clone that puts out 20 gram fruits across the board. Pinset looks poor but that was a single quart of spawn which put out 46 grams dry. I still wanna do more ms to find weirdness but I think my spores are no longer viable so its gonna be swabbing time soon. Hopefully I have a clone that can make spores

Holy fuck. Those fatties.. I find APE MS pretty difficult to work with. But I also didn't have antibiotic agar back then... Maybe I can swab or something.

That's pretty neat but the actual reasoning is more because a gram of them(at least the ones I've had) can turn some grown ass men into puddles.

That description actually made me envy those ugly chodes for the first time.

I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister. I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave. I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent. Triggered yet? Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."
No, this does not look right...

^things like rye and wbs can def get infested. I find that pretty disturbing actually, but yeah the only way they can get in, it seems to me, is if theyre already in the grains. I keep my rye locked up pretty damn tight within several containers/bags, layers of protection. Sealed to the max. I have not seen a single bug, ever, in my rye even 2 years later. Usually it rinses clean after filling it and emptying just 2 times or so. But also like other people said, how could parasites still be alive after a 15psi 60+ min pressure cook? even 212 boiling water should kill them after a whole hour. Either way its a problem i hope i dont have to face as i really hate the idea of worms in grain jars :/

I keep my rye grain in a 5 gallon bucket with a close fitting lid. I've had moths get into other containers and after that it's maggot city. But no problems with the bucket. :waytogo:

I came across this, but also heard that to cross strain you swab two different spore strains and put it on agar. The process in quotes, is there any accuracy to it?
"Not that I'm overwhelmingly qualified to discuss the subject, but the ten-cent wiki-how would read something like this...
1. Create a single-sector isolate of Desired Strain A. 2. Create a single-sector isolate of Desired Strain B. 3. Grow out the two strains on a new dish...
(deep breath) At that point the two strains should form a wall of isolation between each other as they grow. If your lucky, a third sector of growth will form and you will need to isolate that, that is your "First Generation" cross between the two strains.
To verify the cross you can transfer a bit of it along with each original strain onto a new dish. If all three form a wall of isolation between each other, the cross is viable to be grown out. If not, you'll need to try again...
At this point you would grow out your first generation cross and create a new single-sector isolate culture from the most promising fruits that seem to contain the genetics you desire and repeat the process by crossing it back to one of it's ancestors, based on which traits you are trying to promote or breed out..."

While poorly worded, the only way that would work is if you were using monokarons and they would not create walls of seperation. If they did that would mean they were incompatible and would not mate. That would mean no cross.
