try to isolate uncontrolled variables. are you sure your substrate was prepped exactly the same? were the tubs the same size? were both jars growing at the same rate? these are some thingsto think about. some of the smallest changes bring giant variances

Same sub, same tub (Bought at same place)/drilled same way, the jars colonized at different times but the tubs colonized at the same time..if anything the PESA colonized quicker, the yangoons pre fruited.

Never. Though It surprises me that only out of two strains with almost identical prep/habitat and shared experiences, only 1 really produces....I'm thinking maybe the environment is more towards the yangoon origins...maybe if it rains more the pesa will show it self more.

They are different strains with different genetics.
Did you use multispore?
It is quite possible that you would have the opposite experience the next time.

No I didn't. For both strains I used a colonized plate sent to me and used agar wedges and tissue culture syringes. No MS was used.
So are you saying they're different strains/different genetics that would lead to one being more successful outside? Or that no matter what situation they would fruit about the same.

Different genetics (i.e. strain selection) are going to respond differently to different environmental conditions. To get to an optimized outdoor yield you'd have to go through testing of isolates in the environment they're fruiting in, just like you would with indoor grows on grain or bulk sub.

Or if your shooting to grow outdoors, choose a strain from a region that closely matches your climate.

that doesnt mean it was a single "strain"
the plates and mycelium solutions could be clones (not an isolate) or straight multispore.

Yes, Yangoon was the former capital city name for Burma. That is its origins. Idk about the other though hm.
Edit: Also after looking at the globe I see its origins are slightly south..more towards the equator then FL so that would explain why perhaps this genetics is doing better then its counterpart. My theory at least.

What are some strains that would do well but be easy for a first time grower?
