great idea.
i hope many beginning growers will cast a glance at the first few posts.
so i want to contribute to help unexperienced people to learn to help themselves,
which is a significant aspect of acquiring adulthood, not only in mush cult, but in life.
we can save a lot of valuable server space for the real interesting posts by first using the search engine,
which provides a huge amount of info and answers to questions like 'am i good?', 'did i fuck up?' and so on.
so lets avoid these constantly recurring questions, threads and posts by vivid use of the search engine.

ok, long story short, let the strain discussion begin.
but always remember: a cube is a cube...!

Thinner substrate = Smaller fruits
not necessarily.
3" deep substrates can produce as large fruits as 6" deep substrates can, but less fruitbodies.
water availability is the keyword.
but, what the guy above already stated, thinner substrates do contain less water; thats where the circle is complete.
additionally, its a question of fruitbody count: more, but smaller ones or few, but bigger ones, both possible.

hey dude,
you must remember one thing:
the trip is what you want it to be!
if you eat texans and think they may be speedy, then they are. same with the penis or any other cubensis.
IYKWIM
forget commercial names.
(sorry, dont want to damp your spirits)

as to grow parameters you already know the answer.
what exactly do you want to know?

sorry, but to me this thread is just the little brother of the psychedelic experience forum;
something like an unwanted pregnancy.
a thread that was birthed because people dont understand what strains are.
a thread which intention it is to collect all the damn annoying noobs questions about commercial names in one place,
so that the mushroom cultivation forum does not get flooded with all this ignorance.
something like an island only retards live on.

i was in one of my moods while typing this above.

the art of using the search engine...
there are a few features you can narrow your search with; theres also a chapter where there is explained how to use it efficiently.
i can not demand the people of asking no questions, but how did i get the info?
didnt post a single thread.
all my info mainly came from this site, comparing the info i found via search with the current discussions on the board,
hence filtering the outlined info.
of course its a little work to do, and thats the point:
people are too lazy to do that. thats what goes against the grain for me.

wherefrom do you know that?
i think you can assume that every cube variety that your spore print or the spores in your syringe come from are from specimen, which have been grown under artificial conditions for quite some time.
to verify that, you could send the vendor you got your syringe from a request, and ask them about things like how domesticated they are and so on.
and i bet they can also give you (as a customer) good information of where it came from, who brought it to the states, ...

its about the phenotype, not the genotype.
they all look slightly different.
and like the lah'kesh boy said, its more the story behind them why people are buying them.
"this particularly mushroom comes from the end of the world. (whooa!) it fruits big and abundantly..."
sponsors want to earn money like everyone else, you little sheep.
