Canning Jars (UK mention) [Re: Oddish]

To any UK readers about to venture into this hobby take note: canning jars are pretty much impossible to get here.
if you want half-pinters (for pftek) go to Sainsburys' jam section and get the Bonne Mamann ones. If you want 'quarts' (about 2 pints, or a litre) get big pickle jars or the olive jars from Tescos.
after months of trawling round large and small outlets all over London, i can give ya tips on pretty much anything you'll need for the UK: with the added bonus that over here, it's all legal

Ebay. My friend bought a total of about 150 jars from several people of various sizes for a total of just under $100, after shipping.

I don't know if lots of people know this, but where I live the Salvation Army store and thrift stores are awesome places to find jars. I was in a thrift store last week and found lots of used canning jars in quart and pint sizes for around 60-70 cents each. Check it out!

Lets see if that is a good deal. I get 1/2 pints new...case of 12 for $3.80 I get pint jars new...case of 12 for $5.00 I get Quart jars new...case of 12 for $7.00
60 x 12 = $7.20 70 x 12 = $8.40
I can get them cheaper new!
Watch what you pay at 2nd hand stores!~ They will rip you off. Plus they don't usually have lids with 2nd hand jars!
Peace!~
