Well actually Congress renewed it, but it looks like Obama is going to sign it, so I guess that's close.

I'm not saying the Patriot Act is the cause of those other 4th amendment tragedies, but you're a fucking idiot if you don't see the common denominator; our fear of ghosts.
No, I fucking don't, but I wasn't born last nigh. It never fucking ends. People babble and whine about the Patriot Act and never find anything in it to cite. Instead you get all tangled up in other legislation and judicial interpretations of other things and then scream "PATRIOT ACT!" Look, I'm likely more radical than anybody about drug laws, but I refuse to pervert legitimate government efforts to protect the populace just so some stupid stoner who blew smoke in a cop's face won't be prosecuted. Change the drug laws. Not changing the drug laws is no reason to eliminate useful law enforcement practices that prevent violent crime.

Obama's an asshole for continuing the patriot act but Bush is a hero for signing it into law in the first place and extending it at least twice (that I remember) during his presidency.
Anyway, you are half right. Obama is an asshole. But so was Bush. American democracy no longer exists. We now live in a fascist state.
I'm completely right, I never defended bush, simply stated that obama is an asshole
thogh I believe no that they put McCain up against Obama so obama would win and make bush look like a much better president than he was

all politicians are liars all corrupted by the spotlight and power all wanting to please the majority of people in order to stay in power instead of doing the "right" thing. obama simply sets a new standard for this fake ass bullshit.. obama is a bitch
this is really what obama desires

Interesting as in it should render the act void because the president didn't sign it. It's unconstitutional... then again so is the patriot act.

my thoughts are that it doesnt matter because Obama authorized it to be used to make his signature on the document, I've authorized others to sign my checks and been authorized to sign checks for others, the autopen is no different than that

My mistake. I took your posting of a picture of President Bush with the phrase "Miss Me Yet" as an endorsement.
I agree though that McCain was never meant to be president. The GOP was perfectly resigned to have Obama take over since he shares the Bush Cheney policy so closely. (expanding the war on terror / continuing Bush tax cuts / re-signing Patriot Act)
I feel that McCain knew he wasn't supposed to win that election and that is why Palin was his running mate.
