Series I flow-hood repair?
    #14519506 - 05/27/11 06:40 AM (12 years, 8 months ago)

Hey all, I recently sank the cash in a Fungi Perfecti Series I flow-hood. They look unobtrusive and very portable, just what I needed. Anyhow, I've been doing a lot of transfers lately and I'm having a great time doing so! That is, until I noticed an air leak along one of the sides where the seal sits against the filter. Anyone ever change a filter on one of these? What can I expect if I take the filter housing apart? Would silicone be a better idea whereas there is currently foam as a seal?

Sorry if this post is a little all-over-the-place, just woke up, no work today and I wanted to resolve this issue as soon as I can. More transfers scheduled for later this week.

Danke... in advance

If you purchased it brand new from FP perhaps try contacting them?

If the air is leaking around the HEPA there is obviously something wrong
and before taking it apart, adding silicone or trying to fix it yourself
see what their response is. Perhaps they will take care of it parts
wise(New weather stripping, new hood, who knows?) or at least they will
let you know about warranty information, or lack there of.

I agree with em666. You spent a lot on that hood, $529.00 retail. It is worth contacting them.  Email is info@fungi.com or 1-800-780-9125. I'd just tell them what you've told us here and I am sure they'll assist you with repair or replacement.

Figured I would offer up some info about this issue, you guys deserve to know. So I emailed FP about this issue. I gave them a breakdown of the symptoms and how long this has been going on. They emailed me back and recommend that I go ahead and remove the front-most baffles (they keep the filter in place.) Upon lifting the offending side I noticed that the air gasket was slightly off kilter. This could only have occurred in manufacturing.
