Pics of unidentified mushies
    #1451915 - 04/12/03 09:50 AM (14 years, 1 month ago)

I found these little cuties growing in my garden. They just came out after a couple of days of snow and a couple more of rain and sun.

They are really nice and grow in a line, but not forming any bunch. Nice the caramel colour, and nice the little nipples on top of young ones.
The stems are solid and compact.
The gills are light in colour and can see no spores (maybe I should try to print on black cards).
I'm simply courios about what they are.

Thank you very much

And, yes, they don't stain in any way.

Spore print color will be very important on these. We'll need to have it to get to which genus they belong to.

Try putting a glass or bowl over the printing mushroom and a few drops of water under there, too. And let it sit overnight. If you can't get a print doing all that then you probably won't be able to get one at all.

Let us know how it comes out.

I'm taking some prints of all them. They had alread started to drop some spores on the card I had put 'em on for the pix.
They look brown, yes...

4 ToxicMan: is that avatar the head of a Boelleni or a Moluccan Python?

Overall, Agrocybe sounds like a pretty reasonable guess. They key out in Smith's key to the genus as Agrocybe praecox, but they look skinnier than normal. Given how skinny they are I might be more inclined to go with Agrocybe pediades, but those are supposed to lack a ring on the stem, and the first photo shows a ring on a couple of them. Given the ring, A. praecox is probably the better guess.

White_Widow, it's a Black Python, Morelia boeleni, aka Boelen's Python, from the Denver Zoo. It had shed its skin just a day or two before and was iridescent all over. In that little photo you can see a bit of pink and green - one of the most beautiful snakes I've ever seen. Since it was coiled on a branch it's hard to tell how long it is, but probably about 10 feet.

Here's a larger version of the photo that one's cut and miniaturized from. You can see in this one the beautiful rainbow effects, although not as well as real life. He was nice enough to be only about a foot from the glass.

Hey TOxic man, that is a cool snake picture.

Here is one I took of a Cobra moving two feet in front of me. He moved when I cleicked the shutter and then I moved real fast.

ANd here is a snake in the grass I came across shroom hunting in Washington State.

This third image is a deadly poisonous Thai snake. At first I thought it was a common coconut snake, but the Manager of the bungalow came to warn me just after I snapped this photo. Then i did not approach the snake again.

check this dude out I got to within 8 inches of his brain.

By the way Toxicman, very nice snake foto.

OK, I would convert this 3D to my biggest passion, snakes, but I have some updates about spores.
Plato was right (as usual ): the spores were brick red to dark brown. Dumped everything...

For ToxicMan: I love Boelens, but they're too rare and expensive... and are great fascinating snakes...

That last snake from MJ doesn't look like a venomous one, but sure a vicious one from Thailand. The one in the grass looks like a Nerodia (armless but stinky water snake).
I guess that shroome hunting is much safer than peyote harvesting in the sonora desert LOL: though nerodias can puff and strike rattlers are subtler and far more dangerous  :frown:

While we're sharing pictures of snakes we found. Heres some snakes that I've found in my hunting excursions:

A ringneck.

A black rat snake.

Thats what the snake did to me when I caught it.

A copperhead that I almost stepped on, then caught and kept for a few months.

Far more... we could also open a new 3D since not many people out there know, but some snakes (as cobras) are used as entheogenic medias in some cultures.

Yeah a water snake who lives in the grass in an area of no water. vvery brilliant deduction.

Sorry it is a coommon garter snake. not a water snake.

And that little bugger from Thailand will kill you as would the cobra.

I got bit last year in my toe by a small cobra. I was sicker than shit and almost lost my toe. IT was swollen for a month. I got more sicketr when I got the antivenom shot into me.

Then I hobbled for the whole rest of the trip.

Every year in Thaialnd I see at least two or three cobras.
