Is it too late to start poppies?

I live in the northen hemisphere so it is still in the 50's-60's at night and 70s-80s during the day. Can i start some poppies still?
how much room do they really need? can you plant them close together?
also, how much rootspace do they require? like how large of a container?

Although they could have been planted quite some time ago, you are still good to plant them for the next couple weeks. They just really dislike high temps at germination. 55-60 degrees is perfect for germination.

thanks for the amazing idea!!!
i have a boatload of good poppy seeds
i have a small heatable (aframe) roofable planter bed. about 8-12' planter bed
and ive been trying to get veggies out in it for over a month
every time i think its ready, we get a snow, or a freeze, or something...
im thinking if i sew it pretty thick, i can get some that withstand the coming freezes if any, and have a NICE beautiful poppy bed by summer!!!
ill have to eat all my veggies as sprouts

really, for my climate, right now seems like the ideal time. It is 50-60 at night usually, pretty wet.. during the day it gets 60-70-80*F tops so im hoping for some nice ones!

Good luck buddy.

yeah man, it all melted today tho couldnt find any evidence of a freeze killing freshly sewn seeds, so :fingerscrossed:
does anyone know some good companion plants (particularly veggies since i have starts) that poppies enjoy the company of?
