A couple of questions...

I'm nearing the end of my first grow, everything's in the fruiting chamber, except for two cakes, one of which is dunking right now and the other of which colonized at half the rate of the other eight cakes and is going to be birthed on the 30th.
My setup is the following:
B+ on BRF Cakes, made according to the PF Tek done right Shotgun FC as seen in the Let's Grow Mushrooms videos, with a modification to the top to allow me to place the light directly above the chamber (I couldn't find a tub around here that had a clear lid), everything else according to spec. 6500k CFL on a 12/12 cycle And a cheap Thermo/Hygro calibrated for one hour inside a damp towel.
I birhted my cakes about a week ago and dunked them for twelve hours, then rolled in verm and placed them into the FC.
One of the cakes grew one pin overnight, and I mistook it for a piece of perlite and may have ripped part of its support off, and now it's otherwise healthy (I think), it just points down instead of up.
A couple of days later, the rest of the cakes started pinning, usually around ten or so a piece, but I have one cake that has thirty or so knots/pins, and the ones that have grown have a flaky white coating on them, and grey/black caps. I thought they might have been aborts, but they keep growing, they just look dry and flaky and mutated.
So my questions are:
The shroom that is hanging down towards the perlite - is it alright for it to assume that position?
The dry/flaky/mutated-ish pins - is it a lack of FAE? Or did I not dunk them long enough? Possible contams?
I've attached pics to help, the first one is my FC, the second is the vertically challenged shroom, and the third is the flaky cake (my camera is bad at taking close up shots, and you can't really see it from far away, I apologize for the quality of that shot, I can take more if needed).

Sometimes mushrooms vault to the bottom of your container, more often than not they'll correct themselves eventually. Your pins look fine man. Did you dunk? How's your RH?

Yeah I dunked them for twelve hours then rolled in dry verm, and my RH is sitting between 95-97% depending on how long ago I fanned. I was just worried about them cause I thought they looked a little odd...better safe than sorry right?
Good to know they're ok, thanks man!

my god that is a beautiful shotgun....did you draw a grid in dry eraser to perfectly drill all those holes???
all of mine are real sloppy...they get the job done, but not as prettily as that one.

Thanks ! I did draw a grid on one side, then once that side was done I just eyeballed the rest of them using that side as a guide. Also, I didn't have a drill, so I use a soldering iron instead...very smelly but makes some pretty nice holes.

you don't worry about ruining the tip of the iron? I fucked one up once using it on a non-mushroom related plastic project.
now I just keep an old metal spatula that I ripped the flat part to flip stuff off, so it's a metal rod that has a handle that I can heat up with my gas range. that way, no ruined soldering irons or screwdrivers.

The plastic for the FC did coat the tip, but I burned off pretty easy after I was done.
