Death Anxiety and Mushroom Trips
    #14512214 - 05/25/11 09:49 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Thoughts of death are constantly and i mean CONSTANTLY on my mind, even before i started experimenting with psychedelics. If anything I believe that lower doses of mushrooms give me the perfect level of mindfuck where I can think deeper into topics that would otherwise seem fairly black and white.

For example, i believe that death is, nothing and everything all mixed into one, the end of everything, the ultimate descent into nothing, but i also believe that we came from nothing. I've had these thoughts sober, for at least the last 3 years. When i take 1.5-2 grams of mushrooms, I still think exactly the same way about the topic, but it's almost like I can grasp the concept twice as well.

Like, I would like to take higher doses in the near future, I haven't taken more than 2 grams before, but i plan on taking 3.5-4 in the next few days. I'm just wondering if from experience, anyone thinks my mindset may have negative effects on higher doses, or if i should be fine. I also wonder if, since I have had these thoughts for long enough to cope with them, well, for the most part anyway ahah if i even have anything to be afraid of anymore, I mean, in a world with no meaning, and no repercussions aside from an eventual and inevitable lack of existence, what is there to be afraid of? But this being said, I have had some fairly scary salvia experiences, not gonna lie :p

Speaking of salvia, the visuals come brash quickly and leave just as fast. Just out of curiosity, could anyone explain what OEV's feel like on shrooms. The come up, the moment before it happens, the moment it does and what is it like when they go away? My goal is never going to be for visuals, but i would love to experience some on mushrooms. Although truth be told, the amazing body high and mindfuck are what make the experience worthwhile for me.

i would avoid shrooms all together if you have any anxiety. but if you do decide to "mindfuck" yourself -gay, dose higher and let us know how it goes. if you don't kill yourself or end up in the ER, you should feel pretty damn good coming down.

Most things worthwhile in life involve some risk.  Looking forward to your report.

It may not even be considered anxiety if we're being technical, existence is just one of the few thing's that truly interests me at this point in my life. I think about it all of the time, even if it's not the main thought in my head, it's something i wonder of all of the time. I think about the nothingness of death just as a devout catholic things of heaven. I think of it as amazing for countless reasons, but like, we literally came from nothing. So all of these thoughts we have revolve around each of our own perspectives, which developed from nothing. So these thoughts mean nothing. Just as life itself. What you don't know can't hurt you. If you don't think about something then it doesn't effect you unless it has some physical effects. It's a not a miracle that we're here. More of an accident. So these thoughts are accidents that eventually disappear, but they are the core of human existence. We can focus on the bad thoughts and think of them as bad, or we can spend our existences enjoying thoughts that actually interest us, because as deeply as i try to look into the human life, when it comes down to it, i am just a human, nothing more, nothing less. That gives me the drive to live life while i have the chance. You only have one life to live, and if it all goes away anyway, then what do you have to lose by living your life as long as possible? Suicide is never really a thought. Do you think this semi positive outlook on nothingness makes for less of a high risk to experience some ego death or anything too horrifying? To be completely honest, even an experience like that would be welcomed with open arms, maybe not as its happening, but the idea of seeing from any new perspective is appealing.

I have pretty bad anxiety, and if I'm having a bad day, the thought of tripping scares me until I am actually tripping.

For me, it helps tremendously with gaining a new/less negative perspective on the ideas that fuck me up the most.

Hanging on to that new perspective weeks after the trip is a different story though.
