hey really cool thread idea
i have been off Heroin & havent touched an Opiate or Opioid in 8 months now. im in outpatient treatment for that. i re-developed a benzo addiction after that i have kicked as well. i have used some since but only for emergency flip outs
i quit smoking cannabis, cigarettes, and alcohol as well going on close to 3 weeks now. except i relapsed and smoked a few cigarettes yesterday, and today. but compared to everything else i was doing, they really werent a main issue. just stopping to save money. the ones that i have smoked were from a leftover pack that i have had laying around
good luck everyone and stay strong. im proud of you

Kicking a dependency on heroin. It has been about 1 month since the last time I used it and about 6-8 months since I was dependent.
I did it with suboxone and I still take about 1/32 of a sublingual film about 2 times a week. I can go a week without a dose of suboxone but I start to feel like crap and end up dosing. The dose I take is so small but I can tell when I have taken it and I really dislike it. I am making plans to finally get over this last tiny suboxone hurdle.
From doing half a gram of dope every 2 days, to now.. I would say life has very much improved.
But I know I am going to have to deal with some withdrawal from this last bit of suboxone. A solo psychedelic experience in the woods will signal the start of not going back to the pharmacy and filling the last 4 films.
ellenallien: I am happy to hear you are doing good with this shit. I have never had to come off of benzos. I bet that is a nasty one.
On a side note; I smoke too much weed and I want to get my use down to weekends.

I suck at this. I went for about 1.5 weeks when I was on a road trip not long ago but that is the longest.
I dont post in the sexual energy thread but I try the challenge regularly and fail regularly. I can tell my energy levels are low right after I ejaculate as well. Its becoming very apparent.

It's tough, mang.
I'm optimistic this time, though. I run five time a week, meditate daily, and I blocked porn on my computer.
I think I stand a good chance of going for at least a month or two and seeing the benefits of not jerking it.

lol every time i try this at around 3 days I'm like "wtf am I doing? fapfapfap"
i see no point in quitting masturbation...some people do it wayyy too often, but I've got it down to once every other day and that seems adequate

Yeah, that's a decent amount.
I was jerking it like three times a day, and I felt like I was depleted of energy.
Hopefully this helps push me a little bit more while running and meditating (I do tantic yoga... so maybe I'll have a lot of sexual energy to work with).

You shouldn't have too much of a problem quitting, if you wanted to. I would advise against going much higher though. If you get started on Percocet, that should serve as a warning that you're headed straight for the deep end.
This is coming from someone who has never tried heroin. But I went straight from Percocet 10s to OxyContin 80s (I got them cheap and could sell enough to stay high for free), then to Opana. It's a rocky road for sure. I wish I'd never started. Nothing wrong with popping a couple Lortabs every once in a while, but it does become a matter of need before very long. Be careful.

Thank God I have no alcohol dependency. God knows I've abused the shit enough. For whatever reason I've never had a problem leaving it alone. And nowadays, it is pretty important that I do because I have trouble controlling my behavior when drunk. I can still use it but I have to be really careful and mindful of what is going on. I pretty much keep drinking to special occasions.
A lot of people can not drink at all ever or else they will be drunk for months or week or years. That is shitty. I am grateful to not be in that place and hope I never end up there.
I was addicted to cigarettes for 13 years or so and finally quit that last summer. Had a couple of cigs over Christmas but have not had any since. I think the most important thing when facing really gnawing addiction like cigarettes is to not get discouraged if you fuck up and have one or two cigs one night. Just keep plowing through and don't worry about the mistake.

I'm in that boat and I need to get out of it.
well, it's been awhile since i was drinking daily. i was a binge drinker and drank very heavily when i decide to go at it
these past few months i was stuck on this weekend relapse bullshit.. or just whenever the urge struck, i would go out and get drunk and usually end up on a 2-5 day binge. i would generally drink 10-14 shots about as fast as my body could handle it
the first few days are the worst, if you're really bad on it and daily perhaps you should use your better judgement to decide whether you need any medical help getting off. as far as what to expect, well, basically you'll probably have to just keep reminding yourself why you are quitting drinking, you're an alcoholic and don't want to drink although you will likely find yourself instinctively producing reasons why you need to in your mind.. don't buy into the delusions, there will be a lot of moments where you really just need to sit back and not get caught up in the heat of the moment.. bleh.. i'm all out of advice really
