Icelander makes a quiet return to the boards and suddenly death anxiety threads start popping up. And none of them are even started by the Iceman

You are either implying that I have puppets here or that I have powerful psychic powers. Both may be true.
Actually I am reading Becker's book again. There was a lot that was way over my head the first and second reading. This time I seem to have integrated much of it. If I get ambitious I will be making some of my own threads on this most fascinating subject. One might say "the" subject of our species.

I look forward to them. In the mean time I'll be learning to play some simple blues and folk songs on the harmonica

I was thinking this exact same thing.
And i would just like to clarify that i thought of my death anxiety thread before i even knew that Icelander hadn't killed himself!

I do plan to kill myself if nature doesn't beat me to it. I'm just a little hazy on the time frame at the moment.
Don't give up hope.

I want to kill myself when I get old too. First I am going to start doing lots of opiates though, and once that gets old I want to kill myself with some sort of overdose. I'm thinking something likes lots of heroin followed by a bunch of sleeping pills.

I bought a Helium tank and keep it around. You just pass out and then slip away. No muss no fuss no pain. Works well with opiates.

Will you not feel any panic from lack of oxygen?

That panicky feeling is triggered by high levels of C02, not low levels of oxygen.

It's actually triggered by high levels of oxygen, that is why people who are having a panic attack breathe into a bag so they lower their oxygen levels.

No there is no panic. It's like going under on the operating table.

Except for a half second before it works you experience an intense pain, like hell on earth, but no one knows about that because by then to outside observers you're knocked out. But inside, you're in torment, begging to die.

I've debated with you. I can stand any kind of pain now.
But you're wrong of course. The guy who wrote Final Exit and started the Hemlock Society had a friend watch him use it and bring him back as soon as he passed out but before death. It was like falling asleep and nothing more.

Oh you can? What exactly do you mean we've debated?

He didn't go far enough? PAIN! PAIN! SUFFERING! FEAR!
