Trading material.
Hey scifi
Mr. penhed, your grow area and set-up looks so clean and bad ass.
All the Pink Buffalo I grow have hollow stipes. I think it is genetic. I remember seeing one of your photos with a solid stipe ... is that typical for you?
Looking marvelous.
Killer yield from the 2 quart jars of spawn. 2/3rds full or full jars?
edit: just me, you are a huge party

Lower fruiting temps can help that. Slower growing fruits tend to have meatier stipes. Fruits grow slower in lower temps.
If you're still not satisfied after dropping temps next grow, then yea I would say its genetics.

to winged_1 (sorry Mr. penhed ... the hijack won;t be long)
yes ... lower fruiting temperatures produce meaty fruits .. I've experienced this myself.
I am fruiting outside in monotubs .. so whatever the temperature is, it is. fluxuates between 60 to 85 degrees F, year round.
I just harvested a tub of Burma that had hollow stipes .... granted, it was MS .... I'm not used to hollow stipes with Burma .... I think I agree with you that temperature is at play here.
back to you Dr. penhed.

You're not completely wrong. Lower fruiting temps make meatier stems, but cubes will have a hollow center. It could be a very thin tube or a wide tube. I'm sure there are several factors. Genetics being one of them as seen in PE. Fruiting conditions being another factor.
I do see a link in findings though. Slower grows tend to be less hollow. So either by lower temps or by slower genetics, you get meatier fruits. Conversely, fast grows tend to be more hollow.
I've been considering running some tests to have presentable data using an isolate. I would then do several monotubs (to get a large number of fruits to examine) in 80F temps, several in 70F temps and several in 60F temps.
