They don't need manipulating. Just grow them out by keeping the lights as close to the tops as possible and add some compact fluoro's down low when they start to bolt and get taller.

I plan to let them grow some more in these Jiffy pots before pulling all but one per each of the 12 pots. Since again I have no experience w/these, I am just curious the amount of root space (as well as foliage, I guess) per plant... could i do three plants per 12" pot, or would that be too crowded? Related, can I induce flowering at some fairly early point to fit w/smaller root systems/smaller plants, to keep height down?
The reason I'm stuck on 12" pots is bc I have a good number of them & would prefer to use them in an economical fashion (i.e. more than one per plant of possible for space & soil considerations), rather than go out & buy a # of smaller diameter pots.
1 poppy per 12in pot or your asking for trouble. They need room to breathe and for roots to spread. Poppy roots spread out horizontally w a tap root/roots that only go a few inches down
