Oakridge?

Hey everyone, I just had a question about the "oakridge" subcubensis... Did anyone really find one there or not? I have read people say that he did not really find it there, and other people claiming that a cube was really found there. I am just wondering as I know cubes can be found in TN, but it's usually a lot further south than that. I have a friend that lives within a few miles of there and I don't know whether to bother searching up that far north or not. Could somebody please clarify for me what the real deal is with this one? And if this is posted in the wrong area feel free to move it. Thanks everyone!

Strains are a retarded concept. A cube is a cube. "cubensis" a species in the genus Psilocybe. Period.

A couple posts by jeetered [who 'found' and distributed Oakridge prints originally] that may be of interest can be found in this thread.
It's not that far of a stretch that a cubensis specimen was found near Oakridge, TN. Cubes are reported from GA, the Carolinas, and Arkansas. What is spectacular is that a Oakridge is classified as subcubensis which is supposedly much more tropical than cubensis according to Guzman.
Hurricanes are thought to have played a role in the distribution of tropical species to more Northern locations like P. galindoi (endemic to MX) in GA.

Gotcha thanks a bunch Naum!I know that cubes can be found around more southern parts of the state, so I didn't think it was to far of a stretch, Ive just heard so many conflicting things about jeetered so I didn't know what to believe. I know several spots to find them down near the bama border, and have even heard of them as far north as nashville ( no proof of claims so far however) but I figured I would ask. It is hard to believe that none grow that far north but so many people insist they cant be found... I myself haven't seen one more than 5 or 10 miles north of alabama so I can not say. I would love to look around more up north though and find where they will and will not grow. I imagine that nashville is around the cutoff area, like sometimes you can find them but maybe not as prolific as somewhere further south. I do know that I have searched my area which isn't far south of nashville for years and not found one here. Hopefully someday though. Anyways sorry for the long post( it was pizza and beer night). Thanks everyone for posting! I will be sure to let everyone know if I ever do find one around these parts. Take care.
