Hello, I have been very eager to try shrooms for the first time but am kind of hesitant. Can/will shrooms actually change who I am as a person? For instance, will I still have the same interests and like the same things as I did before? or will I have altered my own current personality (which I am quite fond of)?

For me, shrooms magnify my personality, not necisarily change it. Shrooms usually let you look at yourself in a different light, and you may choose to alter some actions/thought processes based on your realizations, but it doesn't force you to do anything. It just offers a different perspective, and usually some cool colors.

You may catch teh gay.
Also: Psychedelics have changed me but I am still the same me only I am much more the person who I want to be.
For example: - I LOVE nature now. I used to be indifferent to it, but now I cannot get enough of it. Seeing how beautiful the world is etc on psychedelics, allowed me to see how much detail we miss in our every day lives, and appreciate the awesomeness of the natural world even when not tripping.
- I am a much more caring person, and was able to see the damage I was doing certain people, as well as myself.
- While not entirely responsible for it, the experiences helped me understand religion for what it is, and to figure out that all paths lead to the same end, and organized religion is bs.
- Fostered a deep interest in chemistry, and how drugs work.
- Allowed me to see how much I HATE the current field of work I am in (Engineering) and what my true interests are - that doesn't mean I gave everything up - It just means while I have my current job I am trying to accomplish what I really want to do.
And alot more, its just the beginning. So obviously I am the same person, only I am different. If that makes sense.
But psychedelics are not some magic thing that changes you. If you don't want to change you won't. I took what I experienced and integrated the changes I wanted to see in my life when I was sober.
So in retrospect, they haven't CHANGED me as much as allowed me to "find out" what I knew all along but just repressed for various reasons. Basically the "real me".

Ive heard myths that they can fuck you up for good. Thats not true. I also remember reading that in a study 80% of people who took them had self sustaining positive changes in their lives, such as alcoholics or drug addicts start to "want" to stop being addicts. I forgot where i read it though.

Thanks for the information guys... Also, this may sound cheesy, but I have a really good relationship with my family and love them alot. Will shrooms alter my perspective, and cause me to see them differently? I don't really know how to explain this, but does anyone know what I mean?

I felt the same way the first time I tried them. Go easy on the dose if your semi worried 3 g's for me was a fun time. Just remember while your mind is altered that in a few hours you will be back to normal a little worn out but normal. The after glow is a good time to reflect on your trip. A feeling of almost being born again was neat to me thats something you can't buy in a store.

You're looking for the study described in this section here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psilocybin#Mystical_experiences
"Two months after taking psilocybin, 79% of the participants reported moderately to greatly increased life satisfaction and sense of well-being. "

In general, certainly you will, and you'll like stuff more than you ever used to. Shrooms make you a better you, to whatever extent you can handle and honestly, in ways you'd never have dreamed possible.
I'm not saying if you're a serial killer now you'll become a better one , I'm saying that if you're interested in improving how your mind and your life works in this amazing thing we call reality you'll find what you need for the journey.
Enjoy the trip!

Everyone is different I was frying off of 3 g's it's a good time. I've low dosed before but they can be weak. I'd say anywhere from 2-3 grams would be alright. A friend of mine eats 1/4's but he's used too it. Do the lemon tek or make tea with it it's the only way to go in my eyes.

If the tea method is used you can always make 3g's worth and only drink 3/4 of it and I you want more (it makes you feel good and happy youll prolly want more) just down the rest. It takes about 20-30 min to start feeling the tea but the trip only last about 6-7 hours.
