That's what I come here for every day: my daily portion of chilling-the-fuck out. Sorry if it seems at your expense, but trust me, it's nothing personal. Stick around and you'll get the hang of this place. We take things over the top right to the spot where they cease making sense, then have a laugh about it. We're actually extremely lax about things here. Don't let the mockery get to you, it's all in good fun. But some people don't take it too well, and they tend to disappear pretty quickly. It's all up to you. But rest assured, in this community of oddballs, it's pretty hard NOT to fit in.

surprised no aussies have replied to this.
you won't find Subs in Brisbane mate. they do grow in QLD but pretty sure only far south. but Brisbane is great for Gold Tops and Blue Meanies. they like warm temps, rain and cow shit. and you can tell they are active because they bruise blue.
hope this helps

Hey nelz. Soo you're having mushroom problems in Brisbane?
Number 1. Wrong time of year. I have never looked for cubensis at this time of year but can only assume that you will have significantly less chance due to it being basically winter.
Number 2. Where abouts *generally* are you searching? Ive found that searching in Queensland you want to go up north a little to get good results. I live in the city and it takes me about 1 hour to get to my hunting paddocks if that helps.
Number 3. You want to be looking for Panaeolus Cyanescens and Psilocybe Cubensis. I have success finding them in slightly water logged paddocks after rain.
Number 4. Persistence. Not every paddock containing cow poo will have majik mushroomz. It took me numerous attempts to find what I wanted. You can look at areas on google maps with satellite view to get a rough idea of the topography and where rivers are.
the rest is up to you.
Good luck. Happy Hunting.
Also,
"How to Find Psychedelic Mushrooms in Brisbane" by Lemmy X. Plain was a great read. I would recommend it.

Are you sure about not being able to find subs in Brisbane? It's freezing cold this winter

But if the mycelium didn't colonise anything in the spring then they won't be growing.

@elprawn> Since Brisbane is in the far south of QLD Psilocybe subaeruginosa have indeed been reported from there as the climate just about still supports Psilocybe subaeruginosa. But he won't find them in cow shit, of course.
From http://www.shroomery.org/8461/Which-psilocybin-mushrooms-grow-wild-in-my-area
Queensland Gymnopilus sp. Panaeolus cinctulus Panaeolus cyanescens Psilocybe cubensis Psilocybe subaeruginosa
@nelz> You need to understand how this whole thing works, anyways, though. It has NOTHING to do with "this winter being especially cold" or not. You are either in a climate zone that supports a certain mushroom or you are not. I am in Germany and we often have very humid and still hot summers. Some summers it can go up to 40°C! You still won't find P. cubensis or Panaeolus cyanescens here, because for a species to make itself at home somewhere is a process that takes a while, or, as the proverb says: "One swallow does not make a summer.". So it doesn't take one especially cold winter or especially warm summer, it takes the right climate zone.

Well, to be fair to me GK, I did mention subs earlier in the thread and when and where they would grow. It was the 3rd of 4th reply of the thread, I think. I was just adhering to the Aussie dude's opinion.
What I would say to OP is this - Get your arse out and track those subs! If the woodchips in your area are inhabited by them then you want to be the finding them.

From what I have gathered, yes some have found subs in Brisbane but its very sparse pickings. They dont grow up here like they do in Melbourne. You can always have a go, you might get lucky.
For a noob though, I think you're best to spend from now until late october reading/researching all you can about the summer actives and hunt then.
I haven't seen many ID requests for Subaeruginosa posted by QLDers and I can assume there is a reason behind that.
Cubensis grows like a crazy in QLD. Just be patient and you will have alot more fun stumbling across a godly amount of Cubes. Plus picking in the summer is warmer and pleasant.

Don't listen to these playa haters...nelz, bro. This guy is spot on. You can either go north or south of the city (Upper Eastern tropical NSW), and north (think between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast). But, as for your hunting skills, you need to wisen the fuck up quick bro.
- Psylocibe mushroom season is from late August/early September to early May (peaking November, December, January, March). It doesn't necessarily have to be raining either.
- P. cubensis does not necessarily have to be growing out of cow shit. It grows up out the ground in and around cow shit, where cows have been and taken turds before, usually peaking after a couple days rain in the

Seeing as this thread has already been necroed....twice, for no apparent reason. I'd like to take this opportunity to say I miss GK and Elprawn!
Edit: On a side note, Why bump an 18 month old thread to give "advice" to somebody who hasn't logged on since?
