I agree. It's not hard to imagine that an all-powerful God could orchestrate a big bang which would inevitably give rise to man made in his image through natural processes. I think what it boils down to is that most creationists are just too stupid to understand the theory of evolution.

I agree completely. I tell people I'm atheist for simplicity, but that's not exactly true. It's just easier than explaining to people that I think their concept of god is moronic. While I do think the existence of god is highly improbable, my disbelief is more so directed at abrahamic religions.
I think it's possible there's a god, but it is not related to any of the stories in religious texts. It doesn't interact with humanity, it probably doesn't even care about us. I think of god, if there is one, as more of an architect than a father figure.
This is one of my big problems with god/religion: it has failed to evolve. People keep telling the same stories with disregard for logic and science. No we don't know how the universe came to be, but we do know that dinosaurs are more than 5,000 years old and god didn't put them here just to trick us. We also know that evolution is real. I don't accept religious concepts that rely heavily on ignorance.

I agree. IF god exists he started the big bang and let evolution take its course.. thats what ive always thought...even while getting religion forced into my ear holes as a child.

it's the biggest, most unanswerable question ever: where did we come from?
Nobody can ever know, and that's where I like to leave it. I'll entertain any theory, but ultimately you just never know, so
I hope answers come with death, it would be awesome to know what allowed us to exist. I bet it'll just be nothing, though...
what's the point?

Its only the extremist religous people that think like that because they stand by their perception of the translation of an ancient text written by a man claiming to be the word of god.
Its pretty much typical of extremist cult followers in any field of life.
The conclusion: the majority are thick as shit and incapable of independant thought so start your own cult like Ron Hubbard did.

I don't believe in anything really. I claim to be a Buddhist, and practice the traditions, but only because of the religion's moral standards and philosophy make sense.

A religion is sometime a source of happiness, and I would not deprive anyone of happiness. But it is a comfort appropriate for the weak, not for the strong. The great trouble with religion - any religion - is that a religionist, having accepted certain propositions by faith, cannot thereafter judge those propositions by evidence. One may bask at the warm fire of faith or choose to live in the bleak certainty of reason- but one cannot have both.

the moral standard of killing people of other religions and treating the 'peasants' like dung, telling everyone you know the secrets of life and that ordinary men will never achieve anything because they cant let go of human nature... gotta love buddhism and the holier than though attitudes

I like your thinking. I have no idea who Ron Hubbard is but I like the idea of starting a cult!
I mean, in person, I am really good at convincing people things. I could have weird rituals that people do every day at certain hours. With friends I often say or do something catchy and others follow-repeat my actions lol!
BUT honestly what do you guys think of people like Kenneth Copeland or creflo dollar? Some people like that is the complete opposite of the old "God will knock you down just to pick you up" type of thinking. Also, he claims he is not a partaker in religion, that what he is experiencing is as is- real life.
If you actually watch some of his preachings, it is completely different from ANY church I have ever been to or any preaching I have ever herd, and it makes sense. I have sat down, and watched videos of religious preachings of all sorts from many religions. I think it is only fair to give something a chance before you dismiss it.
Thats how I think tho

really tho, when I hear things like this [when something is coming from some one who says they do not believe in a god(s)] , I always take it that they are not talking about my God, because they do not know him or have a God at all. I take it they are talking of a made up character in their mind. Which in their reality they are. right?
do not get me wrong now, I do not know Jack Blacks personal beliefs lol.

Personally If started a cult, money would be apart of it, but If I was sick enough in the head to do that, I would do it to mentally torture those who join it.

I think going by the Christian biblical story that it says God brought us into existence because he wanted a family. Then again, I cant show you were it says that, and I have no idea how to look it up. So regardless if you believe or not, never listen to a person if they can not show you in the text you are in association with were it is at in it. Then theres always the problem of interpretations
we all interpret and perceive things differently right? I love how much variety there is from one human to another

Mr.Qabalistic said: I'm not to sure why the idea of the big bang theory or evolution is such a huge no no to many who 'believe'. Why is it so hard for one to believe in God, while believing that something like the big bang could of happen. I personally believe that God (my God I am speaking of) may have caused the big bang- was that spark of energy. I also see nothing incorrect with the thought that some of us may have developed from animals or fish and co exist. These are just thoughts now, obviously not things I hold as truths or facts.
My psychedelic experiences have lead me to believe in Pantheism. My theory regarding the big bang is that in the beginning there was only God. God was this super dense ball of energy/matter floating around in space. After years and years of being the only thing in existence, god got really bored and decided to create some thangs for his own entertainment. This event is what scientists refer to as the Big Bang. God exploded into billions and trillions of little pieces and scattered out into the universe. Some of these pieces arranged themselves in such a way that life was possible. Life evolved into what it is today, and now god is sufficiently entertained through the universal consciousness. Everything is god, and god is everything!
-------------------- The fire has many things to teach. But so does the human experience.. which is like fire, sometimes you just need to stoke the coals and sometimes you just need to add a log or reposition the log matrix. But a well built fire will be much more self-sustaining than a poorly built one, and they all need love to grow. And don't fuck around or your might burn yourself. Must always respect the fire. - Shroomism

According to actual Jewish exegesis of the Old Testament, God created humanity because he wanted a wife, and that wife is the nation of Israel.
Jews regard the Jewish Bible as "a love story" - between a man, God, and a woman, the Jews.
I don't get it either.
