yeah that's why I scribbled out my face...not...I did pet it, chilled with it for about 15 minutes...then picked it up gave it a pat on it's butt and it scampered off.
The picture with me is with my self-timer on my camera.
Maybe I'll upload another pic in a second.
Do you think it is a bad thing to have petted it?
I think it will be fine.

it'll be fine, they're born without a scent so predators cant smell them and it's best to leave them undisturbed but petting one does no harm

Ahh hell, yeah THANKS PRIS! I do feel better now about my deer encounter. It was an amazing wildlife experience!!! for sure
I saw what could have been the mother deer about an hour before I hiked up on the baby. The possible mother deer took off in the opposite direction of where I found the baby. If it was the mother whitetail - it was small in my opinion it seemed like a juvenile deer.

This is what it looked like from a slight distance with my crappier camera. See it in between the palm trees...

hmmm

part of the survival instinct is for the fawns to lie motionless so they dont attract attention, the mothers often make sure they're seen and run to draw predators away from that easy meal. it's not unusual for a fawn to be left for several hours to a couple of days

Yeah, wow, that's definitely what it was doing. It was lying motionless the entire time until I picked it up then it seemed to wake up pretty fast. The mother did tried to lead me away. I saw it - it took off about ten yards into the woods, then I found it again, I followed it for a second and tried to get a picture but then it really took off and I left it alone and went back to looking for shrooms.
It was a great day. I saw an owl, a black racer, armadillos, those 2 deer and other cool shit.
Oh yeah and I was glad that nothing went buckwild on me!

it's odd, I live in NW Ga and had never seen an armadillo this far north until about 7 years ago, then it was about a dozen of them as roadkill, I actually had to stop to confirm it was an armadillo... we also have seagulls at our garbage dumps and lakes next thing ya know we'll have reports of gators eating house pets

Hmm, yeah that is odd, I almost always see at least 1 armadillo (usually more) when I am hiking and I never thought about their range. It wouldn't surprise me though. Dam gators are everywhere down here and they've gotta be squeezed for space. Protect those Georgia house pets!
We've got seagulls at our garbage dumps and lakes too.

Awwww what a cute doe
Deer are nicer than turkeys the deer around here are chill with me and keep eating even if I'm only 10 or so feet away... but the turkeys if I go near them they fly up in the air and stick their talons out at me and I have to haul ass to avoid becoming turkey feed

In Goa, India, the cashew apple (the accessory fruit) is mashed, the juice is extracted and kept for fermentation for 2–3 days. Fermented juice then undergoes a double distillation process. The resulting beverage is called feni. In the southern region of Mtwara, Tanzania, the cashew apple (bibo in Swahili) is dried and saved. Later it is reconstituted with water and fermented, then distilled to make a strong liquor often referred to by the generic name, gongo.
