As far as I know, no Korean terrorists have struck America in the past......really long time. Our motives would be obvious, thus they wouldn't do it. Plus it would put another dent in Amerikas wallet when we really don't need another one....just another reason NOT to go to war with N Korea. There are lots of reasons not to go to war with Korea. Just bekuz they gots nukes doesn't mean we would start a war with them.

no shit...

personally i dont really think china would want to fight a war with the US, and i dont think the US will want to fight a war with china. the american public cant stand war casualties. hence the fact that iraq for some bizarre reason had to be number one on the list of countries to invade, while north korea has nukes and talks a lot of shit, and we refuse to even talk with them.

count on the US being in wars all over the place from now on - with pussy ass countries like Syria and Iraq.

if i were running north korea, i'd be stocking up on nukes and talking shit too. iraq is a perfect example of what happens to a country WITHOUT ANY WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION when our president decides invading will help his re-election and oil buddies. we run up in em and fuck their shit up. will we do that to a country that might nuke seattle if we piss them off? i doubt it, unless all of the illuminati/2012 conspiracy theories are true......

As far as I know, neither have any Iraqi's.

They don't have to do the act themselves ya know- they can fund other Arab terrorist orginizations. Kemikal weponz could be very effective when used for terrorist attacks too. Hummm...I wonder how Osama got ahold of Anthrax.

Where's the link they funded terrorism?

If you want to go after people who funded terrorism, perhaps we should be going to Saudi, first and foremost. As there is no monetary link between Iraq and US terrorism.

there is no doubt in my mind a conventional war with china and north korea would lead to the bloodiest war in the history of the world, and a very good chance that nuclear weapons would be used as a desperation move.

Please don't be silly. Look up the deaths in WWII.

The question is if there is a way to remove the threat of N. Korea peacefully over decades.. Or are we avoiding the inevitable (appeasement) now to only have to deal with a nuclear N. Korea in the future which will only result in higher casualties.

Sometimes war is necessary, Iraq was never something I would have focused on if I was Bush, but N. Korea is a totally different beast altogether.

China would not defend N. Korea if there was a war, any diplomat in this world could tell you this.

This is exactly what president Truman thought in the Korean War and we all know how that turned out...

Phew, glad you thought that out

Ummm this is not then, and really do you honestly think that China would lose its relations with the US and the western world to defend a poor and dying regime?

I know this forum is all about silly comments, but come on some serious opinions couldn't hurt once in a while

China wouldn't lose sleep over N. Korea. Thats reality.

and besides, didn't you read the article above:
"During his visit, the reclusive Kim met new
Chinese President Hu Jintao, who said China
would not "stand idle" if relations deteriorated
further between Pyongyang and Washington,
according to Strategic Forecasts"

if they're having secret meetings and shit, that makes me a little suspicious. i don't think China would risk relations with the rest of the world, but they won't stand by while we make a mess in their backyard. and even if it could be done, I wouldn't sacrifice one American life to disarm a country that has never attacked us.

Well aparently N.Korea has decided that they would be willing to engage in multilateral talks. This is what the US was demanding. What iwas N.K. reason for only wanting to talk to the US before? And why did the US refuse? I have no answers to these questions but would love to hear opinions.

The article sugests that China is working w/ NK and some else suggested China enginered the nuke crisis. What is the motivation for either of these? Is it to lead the US into a war or lead NK down a path of destruction?

You guys are waaayy overestimating the economic ties of the US and China. The DoD lists China as our #1 enemy. The world is working very hard to end its dependance on the United States. The rise of the euro, the new coalition of Russia, Germany, and France, the fact that the US, England, Poland and Spain are the only countries involved with the Iraq situation. The fact that China and Russia are both supplying weapons to Iraq as they did Afghanistan...

Powers are shifting. Why wouldn't China support North Korea

hhmmmm.... good point. We need to deal with the reality of a new multi-polar world. This "sole remaining superpower" thing has been overplayed, there are now 9 official and unofficial members of the nuclear club and it's only gonna get larger. We need to deal with reality.

The UN will step in if and when North Korea starts production on an ICBM that would reach across the world. Until then the small missiles shot form NK will more likely be shot down by partiot missliles. 7 out of 10 patriot missiles hit SCUDS so far in the Iraqi conflict. ICBM's are impervious to partot missiles as they actually travel in the atmosphere. Do not think that our regime is all to concerned about North Korea as even if they did make a nuclear warhead, chances are that it will be poorly engineered and liable to mishap. Once other countries are put in danger by ICBM's, things will become different.
