I found this cream colored trumpety mushroom growing in clusters of several on a lawn with some leaf mulch, unfortunately im not getting a spore print as i might have taken too old a mushroom. just wondering if anyone has any ideas based on this limited info. and of course it would be much appreciated ! they smell really good and those stems are so thick and meaty.

I was looking at Camarophyllus pratensis but I really don't think it's that. Not sure what it is.

I will confess something that should be quite obvious, CC.  I love mushrooms, i.e. fungi.  I really do.  I am talking about a strong feeling, i.e. emotion, for them.  I think they are beautiful.  I even dream of them.

Yes! I knew I'd seen it before. The name crops up from time to time. Thanks, Bob.

I think the mushroom grows here throughout winter, as well. I've seen it, it's quite hardy to the cold.

the only issue i have with that is that the cap is raised on the wrong angle. all the pics i can see on google of the underside of the cap dont meet the stem at such a high angle as this mushroom.

it looks pretty obvious that the mushroom i have, and didnt snap pics of (doh) had "trumpet" shaped caps from their young age.
