Todays Hunt
    #14506680 - 05/24/11 08:34 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

Went on a quick hunt at one of my patches today to test out my camera.
Here are the results.

Subs

Xerula sp.?

Hygrocybe sp.? Laccaria sp.

Cortinarious sp.?

Galerina sp.?

This specimen is a few weeks old. Growing directly from a small log. Looks almost identical to a sub when young - bright yellow/gold cap, rusty brown/orange spores, visible annulus and a caramel/white stem.
Now that it's older it is much more distinguishable.

Yes, that seems correct.

Laccaria laccata maybe?

Cool finds

Lots of Laccarias look more or less the same, you really need microscopy to be certain.

Your other IDs look good. I'm not sure about the Cort though. I would be interesting to see it when it's mature.

I go to this patch every morning so I will definitely be able to get a few more pics when it's matured.

It's amazing the vast amount of different species growing in this patch, almost every morning I find a new type that I haven't seen before. It's good to be able to finally put a name to them though.

I think your Xerula sp. is now called a Hymenopellis sp. after the names got all split up and what not.

The Xerula/Oudemansiella Complex (Agaricales)

I don't care what they are called, they are still one of my favorite mushrooms.
