Hello everyone, I was hoping you all could take a look at my cakes and tell me if everything looks ok with them. I have never grown cakes but have done casings before.
First of all I did kind of rush the birthing only waiting two days after full colonization of the outside of the jars.
Second for the first 3 days I had them in a shotgun chamber made out of one of those styrofoam coolers with the lid cut and fit with a peice of glass.
Yesterday I made a clear shotgun chamber but only have 3 inches of perlite. I have been misting and fanning 3 times a day once in the morning before work, once after work around 4pm and once before bed around 11pm.
My problem is I lack patiance and dont really know what to look for as far as problems. I birthed the cakes last thursday.
My only problem that I know of is I have a hard time getting the temp down to 70-75 degrees it is usually right around 80 but I plan on putting a frozen bottle of water in the chamber tonight, would that be ok??
Anyway can you take a look at the pic and tell me if I should just be patiant or if it looks like I am doing something wrong. I dunked the cakes for 24 hours and rolled them in vermiculite. I can not tell if the white growth is pinning or lack of fresh air though, I have a hard time thinking it is lack of fae as I have holes 2 inches apart on all 6 sides and fan and mist 3 times a day so I am hoping you all tell me to chill and be patiant and all looks well
Thanks for any help you can provide.

also does the temp difference of 75 and 80 make such a huge difference to risk putting an ice pack in and drying the humidty or should I just let them go as is??

the fluffy white balls should turn to pins in a couple of days if you mist and fan regularly...
