Nj ID Request
    #14491540 - 05/21/11 09:34 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Okay, I'm going to attempt to combine my passion with an online network, I hope no one be harshin' me.  I've been a ghost here for some time now, and have a lot of respect for you all.

Went a'walkin around riverbends of Central Nj and SE Pa past two days.  Has been raining for past week here, heavy flooding.  Focused on decomposing maples, elders, and alders, and stuck to jungles of Japanese Knotweed.  {Going for Ovoids}.  Picked these out of piles of flood debris, mainly long sticks.  Dug up to 6" under large piles around rotting wood and found them, growing from this broken down matter.
Found identical ones about 20 yards from the water growing in loose mulch next to decomposing logs, again.  These weren't far off the beaten path.
Seems the criteria ranges so dramatically for them regarding appearance-  colors, stage in growth..
Never the less found these in the consistent habitat.  Would really appreciate an ID.
This is what theyre going to look like.  Hopefully the surplus of pics speak for selves.  I'll get savy with some scientific lingo, hopefully I can convey a feel for anything 18 pictures lack.  They do not have a strong smell, if anything they smell extremely desirable.
Edges of cap are ‘frilly’, bruising or coloring slightly darker.  Few shades darker, convex nipple at top, lines radiating from it.  Gills are free protrude past the cap (teeth?) .  Sometimes white and wide pored, fleshy- sometimes light, light brown.  Stipe is central, hollow but surprisingly durable, sometimes brown but usually white at the top, always darker at bottom.  It usually bruises right away but 90% of the time within 2 hours.  [url=https://files.shroomery.org/files/11-20/594531379-habitat1.jpg][/url

too lil

The bruising starts

Only the big guy gave me the dark brown spore print.  It's been about an hour, so idk.. but it's been a pleasure.  :}

Psilocybe ovoideocystidiata- the last 3 pictures but wait for a TI to decide though. :confused: The first few pictures look like mycena to me.

:thumbup: Certainly looks like it.

I agree on the mycena for the first species. I also see something that looks like a parasola species (I'm thinking of p. plicatilis), but maybe LuckOfTheFryish is right and they're actually a marasmiellus species. My money's on parasola though. Then there seems to be another mycena species (the ones on the greenish surface).

Make sure to follow the ID request guidelines to maximize your chances of getting an accurate ID quickly.

I think this is CureCat pretending to be a n00b. The nail varnish is a dead giveaway.
