Anyone find clinical psychiatry weird?

This might sound stupid but I was just thinking it's weird to have someone throw tags on people and say things like 'you have depression'.
Now obviously psychologists can be useful and certain things are serious and need their tags like bi-pilor, schizophrenia, etc....... I'm not trying to downplay anything serious but for certain things I think psychology is over rated in many cases.
A lot of America's problems probably stems from not doing anything.
I feel like when I go out in nature it cures my problems more than any person in a chair telling me about my own consciousness
Are you more pro or anti psychologists? Maybe they are the most useful practice in the U.S?

Anti, What they have to say about depression clinical or minor is completely unhelpful. There "rehabilitation" rate for the more serious mental disease's like schizophrenia or bi-polar is very low. IMO the acceptance and caring for of these disabled people by society would be the cure, although I cant really ever see that happening.

I've had -experience with a few and most of the time they can't even shed new light on the situation.
There probably are some helpful people out there but

I'm not against psychology/psychiatry, I just see it for what it is, quackery
or a means to get some recreational pharmaceuticals

If someone is severely depressed then it can help bring them to a "normal" level of unhappiness but you have to ask yourself if there is even motivation to actually cure the patient. Just as with the pharmaceutical industry, there is much more money to be made in keeping the person dependent on the drug than actually moving beyond their illness. I'm sure there are a few good psychologists out there who honestly put their patients well-being first and foremost, using more techniques than the mainstream psychology mind tricks, but overall I'd say it's rather bunk.
