whats up mycology people,
today i was reviewing my plans for my 2 x 2 flow hood build as i was on ebay looking to buy a 2 x 2 HEPA unit when i got to thinking that only an idiot would build a 2 x 2 given that i have the space, time and budget to do a 2 x 4.
soo i went to the hydro store and got a 985cfm can fan (best centrifugal fans around IMHO) and a speed controller right after i ordered a 2 x 4 HEPA filter on EBAY from one of these computer cleanroom equipment suppliers.
on the thing i cant quite figure is the ideal pre filter material for the fan intake....what are ya'll using for your flow hood pre filters? thanks

They'll work twice as hard for a ten percent gain, just for the love of perfection..." Roger Rabbit

i duct tape a furnace filter over my intake. i would have put a second one on the outtake (between the fan and the hepa) had i seen the idea before.

Get the highest rated furnace filter you can find. I also duct tape the filter to the blower intake, but that's for a smaller flowhood. If you're doing a 2' X 4', I'd build a prefilter box and use at least a 10" X 20" filter. I like 3M Ultra Allergen filters. RR
