Questions about field capacity. . . after pastuerization. . .

I prepared some coir/verm/gypsum/manure substrate for bulk. After pastuerizing it should I still be able to squeeze water from it as I could when preparing the substrate? I got a couple of small drops but that was all. Am I doing it right?

Thank you, I prepared some but the temp got over 170 for almost ten minutes so I dumped them out just to check it. So I am pastuerizing another now, and it is sitting at 167. Any way to lower the temp a little so that it does not go over?

I have them in my pc, no the lid is not on, it does have pretty thick walls, and I moved it from the burner I had them on. Maybe set it outside? It is 73 or so but a nice breeze. I turned it off when it started to boil and moved it when the temp hit 120.

I am attempting to prevent the temperature form going over 170. Unfortunatley my substrate is now at 171, I guess I shall start again. I will need to pull it sooner, maybe 107. . . Any chance that it can still be used for WBS bulk substrate? I am thinking no due to what I have read. It has dropped to 170 and was at 171 between 11 and 13 minutes?

You're fine, don't dump it. I recommend 140F to 160F but there's a bit of fudge room. RR

Wonderful, I am going to let them sit a total of 75 minutes above 140, then can I dump them into a large tray for use? I will let the substrate cool to at least 90 in the tray and then layer it with WBS. I am going to use pans 8x4x2.5, and 12x10x2.5. Sound good? 1/2 inch of substrate, 1/2 spawn, and continue layering? Substrate on top of course.
