Whenever I don't have weed, I seem to take up smoking ciggs, and/or drink 5 cups of coffee a day. I need it to function. Before pot found me, I had insomnia and possibly ADD.
+1 for pot

Hmmm, I'd have to chose psychs.
I like weed, but I don't love it. Sometimes it really agitates my anxiety and makes things much LESS enjoyable. Happens sometimes on psychs too, but I feel that I get so much more out of psychs than just the high.
Now,disregarding the high and looking strictly at benefits, I would have to chose weed for the physical benefits and psychs for the psychological benefits.

people who say they prefer psychedelics over weed dont seem to realize.... weed is a psychedelic
And to answer the op's question, weed IS overrated. Ive been a daily smoker for 10 plus years. Ive quit recently (last 3 months) and i feel great -Memory has improved, i can breathe better, im a lot quicker and sharper, a lot less anxiety over stupid shit. Im sick of people calling it medicine, its no such thing.

Sure its a psychedellic, and i've def tripped off it before, but when comparing the two, its easier to call psychedellics psyches and weed weed cause the effects are drastically different

Kinda. Not really.
It has psychedelic properties. That doesn't mean its like LSD. Because it's totally not.
Lets see somebody drop acid ten times a day every day for ten years. Whatever that means. Because that's how often I've been smoking pot and I can still hold a conversation with somebody.

For me,weed has been the one drug I can maintain onEverything else got me into some kind of shit in one way or another Back when I was a kid I'd do anything you put under my nose...literally The last 6 years it's been nothing but herb and the occasional trip Herb saved my life,I was strung out on tweak for along time It helped me get over the cravings, calmed me down, helped me sleep...shit I owe my sobriety to marijuana I'm not saying herb is a cure all for meth addiction ...I wanted to quit but it sure as hell helped more then anything else So is weed overrated...I say hell no

Youre right, but i never said it was anything like lsd. Im just saying it's classified as a psychedelic. There are plenty of psychedelics that are not similar to each other.

List of psychedelic drugs From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The following is a list of psychedelic drugs of various classes. Some of these drugs have mixed mechanisms of action (e.g., MDA is both a serotonin releasing agent and a 5-HT2A agonist; dextromethorphan is both an NMDA antagonist and a serotonin releasing agent or reuptake inhibitor) but these are listed under their primary category and mechanism of action. Entries marked with a # are naturally occurring. Contents [hide] 1 Serotonergic psychedelics (serotonin 5-HT2A receptor agonists) 2 Empathogens and/or entactogens (serotonin releasers) 3 Dissociatives (NMDA antagonists) 4 Cannabinoids (CB-1 cannabinoid receptor agonists) 5 Opioids (kappa-opioid receptor agonists) 6 Other 7 See also Serotonergic psychedelics (serotonin 5-HT2A receptor agonists)
Indoles (Although many consider all of these to be tryptamines) Tryptamines Dimethyltryptamine (DMT) # (produced in trace amounts by the human body) 5-MeO-DMT # Psilocybin # (4-PO-DMT)(considered a pro drug it is dephosphorylated by the human body into psilocin) O-Acetylpsilocin # (4-ACO-DMT) (Also known as psilacetin it is believed to also be a metabolite of psilocin but is still being studied) Psilocin (4-HO-DMT) # (found in the Psylocybe genus of mushrooms) Bufotenin (5-HO-DMT) # (secreted by certain frogs as venom through the skin as well as in plants. the psychedelic activity of this chemical is doubtful, although research is limited and inconsistent, but the DEA has made it illegal in the United States regardless) Alphamethyltryptamine (AMT) 5-MeO-AMT Dipropyltryptamine (DPT) Diisopropyltryptamine (DIPT) 5-MeO-DIPT Ergolines LSD Ergine (LSA) #, from Morning glory and Hawaiian baby woodrose seeds Ergonovine # Ibogoids Voacangine Ibogaine # (also an NMDA receptor antagonist with dissociative effects, as well as a κ opioid agonist) Beta-carbolines, the active harmala alkaloids in ayahuasca, powerful MAOIs. I agree its better than doing harder drugs. And if its a tool you use to keep you from using harder drugs, thats excellent. Yet it does have its negative repercussions.

Unless you have cancer or aids, and you use it to help you eat... No its not medicine. Its fun and less harmful than alcohol, but not medicine. As someone who suffers from serious pain, i can attest to the fact it does little good. The term medicinal marijuana is a joke, you can get a card for tennis elbow.
