    #14499458 - 05/23/11 02:49 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

My husband and I wanted to get some opinions on one of our Phoenix Oyster blocks and all of our Reishi blocks, the Oyster just looks really strange, the Reishi may have contaminated.

doesnt look good. The first block has cobweb, try spraying it with h202. The other blocks look to have bacteria / mold. The wood chunks look BAD. How did you sterilise them / prepare the blocks?

i agree, bury them outside in your garden in a shady spot
maybe you can still get some fruits

Those pieces of wood have trich on them, which reishi will eat for lunch.  Don't worry about the trich, won't affect anything.

Awesome, I'm not worried about the Oyster block, there's 4 more that look amazing, already ate some of my first ever blue oysters today! They were delicious. Thanks for ID'ing the contamination on the Reishi, I remember reading in 'Growing Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms' that trich won't affect them so that's reassuring. we'll master our technique soon. Should've seen our first cubensis grow :awedisgust: lol

Thanks guys!
