My first grow info/pics of progress

Ok well to begin with i read for about a month or 2 before i attempted. This is done with a pf tek verm/brf/organic rye flour mix. The mix was not suggested since it was probably 2 cups verm for 1~1.5 cup brf/rye. Its been a week since in inocued. I accidentaly used a bit too much cc's around 2 for a jar. Finally removed my tin foil and started to expose to sunlight for 5 mins daily. started talking to my babies got the idea from people that worked with plants talking to them had noticeable changes from talking to the plants/playing music. Figured why not.
I am still unsure if this is exactly myc or not so some help would be great. If its not then i probably know why my sterilization methods used would be called questionable to say the least. I can put more into this if asked otherwise i just learned a bit. Otherwise ill keep you updated and thanks for the help. Any questions feel free to ask.
Heres some pics and if these are myc AWESOME

is it just me... or do those glasses of substrate look to have NO LID!!!!
broski, contamination waiting to happen.
besides the fact that your substrate will be dry in a day or so, and your mycelium will die :/

Yeah i got some but their pints. thats why i kept the tin foil on so long those are just glasses. But honestly i don't think their gonna dry that quick their putting out a lot of condensation for being dry. I will move to half pint jars next then mycro bags.

No i took them off after about 5 days and put them back on every so often with tin foil but for actual lids like a pint jar that is air tight no but tin foil can and does work. So i use it but let them breath for about a hour or so its first grow so im just trying to see what does and doesn't work.

Do you have any kind of fresh air exchange filters on your lids? That might be a problem.

I don't see why not just try things my way(from what i understand) and see where it works or not. Learn from it.

Yeah but if you get one viable cake that fruits, from trying different things with each cakes, and then make a spore print you can then redo the whole process and have more viable knowledge from first hand experience then from just reading. I agree in a way but how else does new info get put forth if no one tries anything different. Thanks for the help and the id(really nice to know) that it is infact myc. Will keep updated in a few days again to see if its still going strong.

ummmmmm.......not to be a total dick, but, ummm, you NEED lids.
i TOTALLY understand reading up and trying your own thing (cuz thats what i did, and thousands of other people did) but we ALL fall back on to the tried and true methods.
they are "teks" for a reason
anyhu, to point you in the right direction FOR NEXT TIME, look into putting inoculation points and filters in your lids so you can shoot them up AND they can breath with no risk of contams.
there are a TON of teks for lids, from the easiest rtv silicon noc ports to the most advanced self-healing medical noc ports. both of which are cheap.
success is what we want, and there are A LOT of different ways to succeed, but at first, try to stick to what is known to work the best, THEN you can mix it up.
if you think you're using your brain in the colonization process, just wait till the fruiting stage! now THATS when you REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY need to follow one specific tek.
good luck brother, you'll do good as long as you follow the footsteps of those before you

Okay.. I don't want to sound like a broken record, but, have you done your research? Do you understand why the PF Tek uses lids? And the whole sunlight thing???? Any light, ANY will slow growth somewhat in your jars. You are giving them mixed signals. I'm not going to bash on you, but, you should check into things a little more before asking questions as to why things are not working out for you. IMO. But, I wish you luck, because you will need it.

Most people do everything they can to avoid contamination. Surprised to see someone do the opposite.

Ive read a lot that any light as long as its not hours of it or direct will help the process of colonization. From trusted members. I never asked as to why things weren't working i asked if this was myc. Im sorry you misread. Honestly thanks for looking and any help.

Wrong. Light will not affect proper colonization, unless the heat is causing the temps to rise too high. Complete colonization and fresh air exchange are the major pinning triggers and without them light will not confuse the mushrooms. In fact, light can actually benefit colonization by allowing the mycelium to establish a circadian rhythm.
