over the past few days iv managed to create a real synth heavy track similar to a pendulum song and it just got me wondering hahaha
Make demos of a few of your tracks and send them out to labels that support similar types of music... if you're lucky maybe you'll get picked up
there's always the DIY aesthetic route of making your own label, handling, promoting and distributing your own stuff and getting the initial word about your music out there! then labels can come in and further things once you've established yourself.

I've always found this to be true especially in the world of electronic music. Ive created my own label and pretty much distributed my music and videos, not the easiest way but eventually it will make its way to the people within the scene.
If you're a musician and engineer you really don't need to pay another A&R person to sell for you these days, pretty much a one man show can do it just as big as anyone else.

True enough - but its a time commitment as well. So you pay for it either way.

Make a soundcloud and any other music sharing site you can and network. Dont spam but push your stuff. Always good to get a good fan base. I like to think that remixes and making little mini mixes helps because people hear your music next to other stuff they like and might relate the two. That's a philosophy I just recently decided to follow. I decided I just want to make a bunch of my own remixes and mini mixes to get my name out there. I'm no expert by any means though. Just the way I feel about my own stuff. The power of friends works well too. If your friends like your stuff they will support you and help you with it.

I've been trying to get into production but the learning curve is just daunting. Also, I don't have any formal experience or know any instruments. I've been playing around with Reason 5 for a bit but I feel lost without a guide/teacher.
I've heard a lot about Ableton... I see a lot of people and artists using it - would you guys recommend I switch over?
Also, where can one find resources for beginners like me? I would REALLY like to know more about using synth's and shaping sounds to my liking.
I'm interested in psytrance and dubstep

I enjoy Ableton but that is just because I know the most about it. I would say use what your comfortable with. Try a couple and see how it goes. Especially since ableton has a free lite version you can try out. Just cant save projects.
I always used to watch lots of youtube videos and read tons of electronic music magazines. I think I might have mention some other sources earlier in this post as well.
