RogerRabbit said: Pick at the large pin size if you want maximum potency to weight ratio. The veil is only a way of measuring the fruit. It has no relation to potency. They also won't add more than fifteen to twenty percent in weight after veil tear. That ain't worth the mess spores cause.
This has all been discussed hundreds of times before. Why repeat it all again instead of using the search engine and reading all the previous threads? RR

an abort can have the potency of up to 3 times its full fruited counterparts
Aborts are no more potent than any other pin their size. As I've said for years, they're at the most potent as pins, and then the potency/weight ratio declines from there. If you want more potent fruits, pick them as large pins before the veil begins to tear. I keep seeing pictures of large, spore covered fruits posted here, and then they complain about low potency. RR
There is 14 pages of posts only by RR in the search function under 'potency'. He has posted on this matter a loooot...
Here is another one that is funny:

What kind of nutrition specifically targets the production of those chemicals?
None. Potency is genetic. Feed your mushrooms a substrate they're happy to grow on, and they'll develop the potency they have the capability for.
Mushrooms are very closely related to humans, sharing over 80% of their DNA with us. Your question is akin to asking what kind of food can you feed a complete moron to turn him into a genius, or what to feed Pee-Wee Herman to make him grow up and look like Arnold.
Same answer. RR

Click on the button above that says search forums until you get taken to another page (once if you're viewing the forums, twice on the home page of the shroomery). In the search, check the box that says Trusted Cultivators if you want posts by TC's or type in RogerRabbit under "Search by user:". Search for "Potency" and you will find a lot of good info.
Good luck!
My apologies, it's above the search engine and it says "SEARCH OUR FORUMS". Click that.

I've answered this exact question so many times I can't bear to type the whole thing over and over again any longer. Use the search terms in this thread to find the answer. RR
I think that I was quoting you RR. ;0)

Best time to pick is just before or as the veil is breaking from what i've experienced the veil opening & letting it grow is good for printing or getting a greater yield it's still gonna be good if you let them get big their good either way in a FOAF's opinion LOL
