Cake shrinks in jar.

I have about 10 cakes in jars, all almost colinized with fine white mycelium. I just noticed today that the cakes are shrinking (for lack of better word). It's getting smaller and you can wobble the cake very little from side to side.

Do I need to worry or is this normal?

Normal. The myc is eating the newts you provided for it. And it makes it easier to get the cake out of the jar.

Ok thanks.

I was a bit worried that the conditions might have been too warm and dry.

I'm gonna give them 2-3 days more. I can still see some brown spots at the bottom of the jars.
