PC water level
    #14493325 - 05/22/11 10:12 AM (12 years, 8 months ago)

For the last batch of jars I had the water level to about the bottom 1/4th of the jar, and then covered them with foil. When I took them out of the PC there was condensation, and little water droplets on the lid. Did I fuck up my moisture level? I knocked them up last tuesday, and still have yet to see signs of colonization.

Going to do my second batch today and just want to do it right.

Did you knock up with MS. It could take a while to see growth.
And of coarse you know not to get your water level that high.

You could have fucked up the moisture level while mixing your substrate ingredients. Or, Perhaps, if you have holes on your lid for inoculation, in which water could have seeped down in there. I usually see signs of growth in PF BRF/VERM Pint jars in 2-4 days, if done correctly. I use the 2:1:1 ratio. The 2 = 2cups of Vermiculite and the 1's = Water and BRF. Then from there I steam, because I don't have a PC, for about 90 min on a low rolling boil. I place the metal rings, that secure the lid on for the mason jars, on the bottom of the pot and then fill pot with water, but I try not to let the water touch the jars with the substrate in them. Good Luck on the Second Batch:syringe::thumbup:
