First time. GT's, PF Tek Classics, B+. Verm/BRF. Pics of progress.
    #14446432 - 05/13/11 04:28 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

Got all my spores from THE.  I guess the B+ spores must be a no go because they have shown no growth what so ever (4/18 inoc) .  I had them in the incubator with some GT's and once the gts took off and the B+ didn't show life I pulled them from the incubator and put them in a container stored at room temp along with some more GT's stored at room temp as opposed to the incubator.  I replaced the GT's I took out with some PF Tek classic (Amazonians) and they seemed to enjoy it in there.  I am gearing up for the next steps but here are some pictures for you to enjoy (or to hate on)

-PF Incubator

-GT Incubator

-Mix of PF + GT Incubator (Varying growth rates)

-Mix of PF + GT Incubator (Varying growth rates)

-Close up

-Close up

-Incubator with jars in them (Opened it today for a check on how they were doing)

-Picture of the B+'s (I am thinking about throwing them out as these 2 and all others show NO growth)

- GT's (These are GT's that were stored outside the incubator the entire time)  These were also inoculated at a later date they seem to be booming themselves!

All comments are welcome I appreciate any advice in advance.

How long has it been since you inoc. The jars? Because I've heard b+ is slow when it comes to colonization .

Damn well at least you have the others cuz I don't think your b+ is gonna do anything . I would wait a week before tossing unless you don't really care.

do you think it is worth it at this stage?  They should be fully colonized shortly and they have had foil on since they were inoculated

Continue this in the future, once you take foil off to inoculate (after pressure cooking), just leave the foil off.  This is going to help with gas exchange and hopefully prevent mycelium stalling.

Also looks like your doing BRF cakes, so if you have a dry verm layer that will protect your cakes from contamination (foil not needed or wanted().

wow thanks for that useful info.  The foil kind of got in the way as to check the progress of the growth.  Its nice to be able to see without having to touch

over a month now and they are almost fully colonized but if you check out my other thread which I will link here in a second.  They are showing signs of contamination :frown:

I have isolated what I feel are the problem ones and hopefully I have managed to save 10-12 of them.  HOPEFULLY
